hey I'm actually in the process of making a ufo sighting here in P.E.I.

Oh, man! I get to know about this beforehand! XD
Try to get it on the CBC when you're finished. Maybe Rick Mercer or 22 Minutes would do a segment on it or something. It looks good, now get some textures. And make sure you add in some water/plant displacement underneath it.

And how are you implementing this? are you overlaying this onto a video recording? or doing it with source? or making a whole scene in... 3ds? XSI? MAYA? Blender?...other modeling apps..

yep, I'm going to render it out into a video, once in aftereffects the background (sky) becomes transparent, I'll then add real video footage of downtown charlottetown of the sky, I'll keep the video steady. I'll then import both vids into aftereffects and tie a 'wibble' to the camera to cause a random shake..

I've always wanted to do exactly this myself. The problem is that my modelling skills are still balls and i don't know shit about aftereffects, its too freakin hard.

going to use an old method called 'trial and error' Going to film it at 30 degrees though to capture the buildings a little, so I'll just adjust the render cam at about 30 degrees also tomorrow I'm going to fil downtown for it.

I must say that picture is pretty good on the surface, it will fool a bunch of the regular folks. But I am afraid it will not fool the hard core UFO buffs out there, especially the ones with "digital dissection" skills that will run the pictures or videos through specialized filters design to detect doctored pictures. But your efforts are still pretty damn good, I like your UFO picture.
