All right gentlemen, now's the time to show how spoiled some of you are while letting others tell you that you're getting too much free stuff from mommy and pappy.

So post what you got... or what you didn't get. Whatever floats your boat.

From my brother, I got a new PSU to power a motherboard and GPU upgrade that I've been wanting to do for months.
From my sister, I got a funny t-shirt that she had made with some company that makes you shirts if you send them the image to go on the shirt. She made a picture of a silhouette holding a log above it's head with the caption "DEVIL LOG" under it. 20 points to anyone who catches this most epic reference.
From my parents, I got a very nice topcoat, which means I need to buy some clothes to wear under it now. Unfortunately, it's just slightly too large and I will have to get the sleeves shortened somehow.
And from me to me, a Serial Experiments Lain box set with the fucking rare, Australian box. Still waiting on that, as I bought it just this morning.

  • An electric beard trimmer
  • A couple shirts
  • A thermos that hopefully won't start leaking
  • Some generic wallet and pocket knife set that I get every year from the same person
  • A three hole punch (extremely useful for me)
  • A wireless adapter that's compatible with my backup Windows 98 computer (not really for Christmas, but I waited until then to open it.)
  • $225 combined from various relatives
  • Roughly $140 worth of car parts my Dad agreed to pay for, including:
A new radiator
A new brake master cylinder
Exhaust hangers
Some fasteners for my suspension

The only thing I asked for this year was the three hole punch. My Dad paid for the car parts out of desperation to get me something.

@Rimrook: You furnishing a new apartment or something?

What I got:
  • A pair of blue jeans
  • A plain black t-shirt
  • A plain black tie (shame it's too wide to be Blues Brothers style)
And nothing from myself.

-Koss Pro 4 AA Titanium Headphones
-Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
-Dead Space (For PC)
-Dragon Age: Origins
-Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
-Left 4 Dead 2
-Borderlands
-Terminator Salvation on DVD
-Some kind of stereo system that I can plug my iPod into
-a 100$ toothbrush (No, I'm not kidding, its some kind of advanced sonic shit, oh well, it works really well, so whatever)
-a crapton of clothes (AND 200$ worth in gift cards to get MORE clothes)

Most of the stuff, I didn't even ask for, which is always a nice surprise.
Posted 14 years ago2009-12-26 18:39:47 UTC Post #276936
The problem with me is, I always want such specific items, I genuinely don't trust anybody else to pick them out or order them for me. So then it would totally ruin the surprise of it all, and I just end up not asking for anything.
Posted 14 years ago2009-12-26 19:47:51 UTC Post #276937
From family:
  • 50 SEK (~5 Eur) gift card certificate at McDonald's
From myself:
  • 17" (used) SyncMaster Monitor
  • 24" (new) BenQ G2412HD Monitor
  • Braid
  • Torchlight
  • Abe's Oddworld pack
I must say the Steam holiday sales are amazing. Never felt so good buying games before. Braid is strongly recommended, quite fantastic game.
Posted 14 years ago2009-12-27 01:24:37 UTC Post #276948
@srry: that's so boring. At least I don't ask for anything because I don't want anything in particular :P
Posted 14 years ago2009-12-27 01:59:38 UTC Post #276952
Hmm.. Well, Looks like out of the bunch (except for srry and Rimrook being the exceptions) I've gotten (yet again) the most out of the holidays, gold wise.
  • a 2.4(practically 2.5 with added overclocking tools) 4gig, 400g hd, sli hybrid personal computer (thats right, no mour software mode for psi!)
  • Yundai 22" lcd/vg flatscreen monitor
  • Tekken 6
  • Blazblue
  • Demon Souls
  • Resident Evil 5
  • Way of the Samurai 3
  • Final Fantasy 8 (playstation network)
(btw, my playstation handle is 'psilous' if anyone wants to school me.. I'm not very good at any of them yet.. lol)
  • A dvd Complete Box Set of "MAGICAL GIRL lyrical Nanaha A's"
  • Puffy AmiYumi CD "Splurge" (with us exclusive tracks AND cd exclusive tracks)
  • $175 (not including a 50 dollar gift certificate and about 40 bucks taco bell certificates) (what I'm eating on for the next 2 months)
  • Guess Cologne gift box sets with matching shampoo's/body washes (BOTH green and orange bottles)
  • some fly arse long sleeves/random clothing apparel (among which, a lucky star shirt with the 2 purple haired twins cos playing asuka and rei from evangelion)(also some boxer draws that look suspiciously like catholic school girl skirts)
  • a spongebob pair of boxers shorts that read "nice now, naughty later"
  • many sk8r/punk -ish hats (and 1 Code Geass "leluche of rebellion" hat, that looks like the dock workers that repair the rigs hats from the series)

And my most FAVORITE item..
  • A simple button that reads "Haruhi-ish" with a siloette of Haruhi Suzumiya next to the text

Wow Psilous, no offense but you've got to be the biggest fucking otaku freak I've ever seen on here. Seriously, your hobby/obsession scares the shit out of me.

After carefully studying your list of gifts, I'm going to risk offending you by surmising that you're the only female on TWHL, and whoever that guy in your avatar is, it sure as hell ain't you.
Posted 14 years ago2009-12-27 15:57:00 UTC Post #276970
No, there already is at least one... I'm sure I've read somewhere that someone's girlfriend has an account here.

This year, I didn't feel like giving any gifts or receiving any, so I only got gifts for my son and my parents. I only received a gift from my wife--a $50 gift card to the local pet store (because I got pet goldfish recently).

I feel that I already have everything that I ever wanted, so I don't really miss anything.

If I had the money for PC version I'd definitely play it. But I do have a lot of friends on 360 that play it, so it made it easier to ask for them to find the one in the green box since they were shopping in that area anyway.

Plus the avatar awards are pretty cool. I have a Medkit for beating all 5 campaigns. And a tshirt for getting Gnome Chompinski through Dark Carnival.
