A more practical solution would be to only show the most recent maps with ratings on the front page. If you want to ensure that spammed maps don't show up at all, then there might be a minimum rating that can appear on the front page.

I don't really like Potatis's proposal because it doesn't actually solve the problem. Although unlikely, it's still probable that a new person will upload 6 or more maps on their first day (remember how many maps Kasperg submitted when he was new?).

It's even more probable that a few new members, each with one or two maps, join in a small time span and submit their maps. In that case, nobody did anything wrong.

Lol yea i was a little dissapointed but I don't really care. I used to always browse the entire vault for maps.

I can see it all happening now. Maps will first have to be playtested by certain members and if they aren't good enough they will not be allowed on the site.

Next, you will have to be a good mapper to even use hammer. Creating a bad map will result in loss of hammer privelages.

even later on if you are to submit a bad map you will be kicked down a very deap well.

Even later than later on, if you submit a bad map members will travel back in time before you made the crappy waste of memory and kick you down an even deaper well.

Lol its really funny to see what is allowed on twhl nowadays verses a few years ago.

I still thought it was really funny though just kinda messed up.

I'd rather see bad maps than no maps, in any case.
TWHL is supposed to be a learning site anyway, and it gives us something to talk about.

I'm going to put a bigger focus on new maps in the next version of TWHL. Just don't hold your breath, because it ain't coming soon.

In the meantime, employ a minimum rating you silly, silly Penguinboy.

I usually only notice a new map if it is in the recent maps. Otherwise I won't see it, and won't be able to give it a rating so it would appear in the recent maps.

And it's fun to laugh at cubes with crates in it. :P

Recent maps is for recent maps. That won't ever change - the quality of the map does not affect it's 'recent map' candidacy.

I also don't like new members that just spam post their maps to become popular.
I'm sorry to say that I know the guy who spamposted the maps, and he now made his own site.
He made over 100 I think( you know what quality, but there are some really nice through them). He thinks he's the next Nipper.
He posted his site too at the map vault, just visit it and read "about". That's if you can. But if you can, you will laugh.

How about if more than one map in the most recent three is by the same person, then could it be possible to only show their most recent map on the front page?

What happens if user A submits a map, user B submits a map, then user A submits a second map? Does it take the place of the first map on the front page?
