I'm having a strange problem with textures. If I apply a texture, say -1FIFTIES_CASE, and compile the map, the texture applied to that face is chosen at random from the textures in its "family" (-0FIFTIES_CASE, -1FIFTIES_CASE, -2FIFTIES_CASE). It's entirely at random; on each compile, the texture selection is different. Anyone know what's up?

That's what the - is for, it causes the texture to randomly tile. You have to use a texture without that symbol

hlife_hotdog is right, here's a list of different texture types: http://www.slackiller.com/tommy14/hltexture.htm

Hmm. That's unfortunate. I don't really understand the reason behind that behavior. Anyway, thanks.

I don't suppose there's a way to bypass it, besides creating a new wad?

edit your original wad..

and subtract the ' -0dood ' hyphen/number from in front of all the textures..

THAT WILL MAKE THEM LOOK SWEET DOOD

I don't think there's a way to do what you want without editing the wad or creating a new one, but the reason behind the randomization is because it allows you to create a more varied looking surface without splitting it up and texturing each part differently.
