Hi
I have problem with func_tracktrain
im setting up in editor pitch yaw and roll "0"
func_tracktrain and patch_track
but in game my car is rotated :/
i tried rotate in editor too but its always broken.

heres how it works:

Moved.

Make sure your train has an ORIGIN brush attached and that its facing right in Hammer, seen from the top view. The train will automaticall face the first path_track.

now i tried just dot again and moved little away from 1st patch_track

but.. why ?
in editor p/y/r is "0" and its moved right [on X/Y window] so its default position.

i tried rotate it 180* but its rotated in game again...

put the origin brush in the middle of the truck not randomly somewhere at the face of it. That's your problem. I can see it easily from the screenshots. Remember; where origin is placed matters.

well if it rotates, why don't you just fiddle with the pitch until the car is facing the direction you want it to?

Also here's a taught; The first path_corner or path_track, make sure it's facing the right way, that could be the problem.

Uh yeah, So for path_track you need it to face pitch in the direction you want it to face and don't give it path corners just do path_tracks. Make sure your cars pitch is also facing in the direction you want it to.

If it's not moving then you have an error in your entity setup.

You said it wont move, You've enabled the "no user control" flag. That might be your problem.
I also found your rotated car problem.

Here is why it wont rotate properly: You have to change the pitch of the path_tracks. The pitch has to face towards the way you want the front of the car to face, if the next path_track is upwards on the grid, point the pitch upwards etc, make it point towards the next one, it turns appropriately to the pitch. Also change the first path_corner into path_track, corners are for func_trains not track trains.

Edit: Here, that should work for you. experiment with the pitches. I took the liberty of moving the van since it was in a tricky angle.

See if it works. I left the no user control flag on tho. If you want to be able to drive it, disable that flag.

Try the same entity set-up with func_train and patch_corners instead. wont be controllable and wont be able to move backwards, will require a trigger, but wont need someone to hold down the drive key and will have the same basic functions. Can't help you much otherwise any more, don't have the time and I've tried everything possible.

Search up a tracktrain tutorial on this site, or snarkpit, or fpsbanana.

Ok, i was wrong in my previous post, like potatis_invalid already mentioned, you need to make the front end of your truck face west, as seen from the top view in this screenshot:

Ingame the truck will face the first path_track.

Also, its best that you put the origin and the first path_track in the exact center of the truck. To get the exact center, make a temporary brush and cover the entire truck with it. Then select it and hit CTRL+E, this will make the grid viewports center on the brush. Now look for the X that marks the center of the brush, since the brush is the same size as the truck, this X marks the location where you should put the ORIGIN brush and first path_track.

Don't forget to raise the other path_tracks to the same height as the first one, otherwise your truck will partially dissapear in the ground.

Anyway, don't set the angles of the truck, leave it at 0.
As for the tracks, you want to have the angle pointing at the next path_track and that one should point at the next.

in game still was rotated.
i added next patch_track like that:

If you don't want your truck to rotate at all, even when it would rotate in the real world, don't use func_tracktrain, use func_train.

I doubt that he needs a func_train, as the path_tracks make a turn into the tunnel, he obviously wants the truck to stick to that, you know, make the turn as well.

I don't know what the heck you're doing, but i tested this myself ingame, and truck moves forward, facing the second path_track.
I did not change the truck angles, they are at 0 0 0 so don't change them yourself.

Yeah well, This guy is hopeless. We gave him tons of advice on trains and helped him out loads, he's still asking for more and doesn't know how it works. If he cba to search up a tutorial on how to make trains work properly then I cba to provide more help.

Hey I think I know what he means now! Before the truck has been activated, he wants it to face west. Then, when it starts moving, he wants it to rotate just like a real truck would do (facing the next path_track).

Just make it face west in top view. Don't mess with anything else for direction, the path tracks determine that.

The default of pitch for all entities is west, west is 0, east is 180... etc etc. Some entities don't use pitch hence they will give you error if you put it anything other than west aka 0. That's pretty simple knowledge.

my truck is facing first path_track
second path_track is like 50 units for left from first one.
so truck should rotate to <--- [i dont know anymore if its west or east]
but it doesnt.
its facing 3rd path_track like i show at screen b4 [ where joebama started flaming me with CAPS about patch and cracks :P ]
