I gotta say Minecraft and GalactiCraft with Half-Life textures go very well together. And yes, those HL monitors and the big HL computer mainframe texture on the right, are all animated.

I know this is a long shot, but has anyone been playing Apex Legends? I've failed to convince the fine folks I normally videosgame with that it's fun, so I'm all alone out here.

I was into Apex but my gaming time doesn't appear to cross over so well with Aussie game time during the summer months... :(

Playing the original Dead Space, I remember last time I tried playing it the mouse aim kept lagging whenever I tried to move the character, I thought this was just one of the ways Survival Horror games try to handicap the player because it only happened while moving and not while standing still, turns out it's some kind of bug and I had to change some things in the NVidia Control Panel and the visual options of the game to fix it.

I tried to play Dead Space but really wasn't into it. Horror is probably one of my least favourite genres though.

I just burned through my weekend with The Outer Worlds though, RPGs being my absolute favourite genre. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys RPGs and has felt a little let down by recent titles. It's by no means perfect, but it's damn good fun.

I prefer when they have progression systems or survival mechanics, like Amnesia's Sanity System, Dead Space has a progression system that allows you to upgrade weapons and gadgets to make them stronger or more effective, I don't like the ones that are just straight linear jumpscare-riddled games like Outcast, they often get too predictable and rely too much on jumpscares and visual flare. I don't mind linear games as long as the gameplay-loop isn't barebones or too basic. (Unless it's a Walking Simulator, in that case it works fine if you're into the genre)

I'm playing two games at the moment; Disco Elysium and The Outer Worlds.

Disco Elysium is a super dense, text heavy (seriously) rpg about a detective with amnesia who is tasked with solving a murder. There's no combat or stats in the traditional rpg sense. Instead, you put "stat points" into different aspects of the main characters personality, and those aspects become part of the story in a really cool way that's kind of hard to explain. Essentially each aspect of the main character become characters of their own, chiming in with advice and flavor text.

I'm really impressed with the writing in this game. Give it a try if you're into deep rpgs.

As for The Outer Worlds, I'm really not feeling it to be honest. I thought I'd love it seeing as it's made by Obsidian and it's been called a spiritual successor to Fallout New Vegas, but I can't help but feel like... Something's missing? I dunno.

Don't listen to Saribous. The Outer Worlds is great.

Were there any snarks?

As for me, I've checked out WRATH: Aeon of Ruin and Disco Elysium with my Christmas Steam cards. Highly recommend both. The former if you like your retro "boomer" shooters and the latter if you want a really exquisitely written point and click adventure/RPG.

Seriously, I thought The Outer Worlds was one of the better written games of the year, but DE shits all over it and it is utterly hilarious. Just don't expect a combat based game and prepare to read a whole lot.
