I purchased 2 games through steam that apparently wont run on my system, primarily for video reasons.

So I am thinking of getting a PCI-E video card...

The games are GTA: IV, and Breach.

Now considering I am not very tech savvy when it comes to video cards and such, and despite any "research" I tried to do, I am askking here because it seems there are quite a few people here who know what would work and wwhat wouldnt.

GTA4 should work in low.

cool, yeah breach for some reason or another stopped working for people who could run the game, so I doubt breach will be played ever.

Well, Breach seems to require lots of memory, since as i saw you can blow up half of the map lol.

But GTA4 should work with out lag, on low / normal.

I ran stronger things on a 2x weaker PC

So you should be OK.

GTAIV requires a hell of a lot more memory than Breach does. In fact, Breach is using pretty ancient tech by today's standards.

What Breach lacks is an interesting look. Other than the destruction physics, it feels settled in tech that's three or four years old. Mixed texture quality can make battles feel incogruent, while hearing the sound of bullets pinging against metal when shooting a truck's tyres clashes with the fidelity of blowing holes in roofs. The upside of this, of course, is that it'll comfortably run on most systems.

You can run GTA4 on low settings on a pretty basic system. My old PC ran it ok on low settings with the occasional FPS drop.

Unfortunately, whether its down to bad optimisation during the PC port or not, GTA4 needs nothing short of an entirely top of the range system to play on High/MAX settings.

Just checking to make sure but....

Do you currently own a PCI-E (pci-express) card?
Does you motherboard support PCI Express?

Some of the older motherboards do not have a PCI-E slot, which is totally different than a PCI slot, which is the older format.

Make sure your motherboard can take this card before you shell out a bunch of money on something that's not going to plug into your system.

just checking...I think I remember myself making this boo boo when the cards first came out. I bought a new motherboard and a pci card and it turned out that they had switched the formats on me.

Guess it pays to do a little research first.
