I recently downloaded a high res texture pack for Half-Life Source and I wondering if I could convert Source's .vmt and .vtf texture files to Goldsource's .wad format. Is there a way to convert and/or view Source textures?

Use VTFedit and then export it to TGA, then just reimport it into goldsource.

You'll only get the diffuse texturing this way, so if the textures rely heavily on normal maps and such, you'll have to bake them one way or another into a single diffuse texture, otherwise it may look flat and boring.

VTFEdit can view source textures (.vtf) and can copy to clipboard or export to jpg, bmp or tga.

GCFScape can be used to extract all textures etc from the big .gcf files.

You may have to resize the textures as well, since HL doesn't like images larger than 512x512 (It will work, but the compiler will complain, and if you get too large, who knows what will happen)
