hi iv been having this problem since i got a new graphics card and when ever i select the selecting tool and click on a object on my half life map it dosent go red so i have to do it by the camera view and it is depressing and i need to know how to fix this thanks!

Yes it is ATI Mobility Radeon and im using windows vista 64bt.

I think then perhaps you need to download some new drivers for your ATI graphics card, I remember someone posting a fix awhile back, but I forgot who.

How is the 'ATI PROBLEM' relevant?
Didn't it only consist of not being able to select the closest object to the camera in 3D view? Because I don't remember it rendering you unable to select objects only in non-3D viewports.

@weylander: Click "Windows Vista 64-bit" below "Motherboard/Integrated Video Drivers" and download the "Catalyst Software Suite".

when my PC was running an integrated GPU (ATI Radeon HD4200) i was managing similar problems, updating the ATI Catalyst Center got it working

Go into Steam, then under the Steam menu click Update AMD Video Drivers. Go steam, this is honestly %50 of why i'm going to stick to AMD from now on. I hate dealing with drivers. its worth a shot good luck?
