Hey TWHL, I've been working with source mapping, but I'm having some problems with my props.

For some reason, a large portion of my prop_statics and my prop_dynamics and my prop_ragdolls have been dissappearing in the map. I can't figure out why. How do I prevent this from happening in my map?

At what point does it happen. Do they not show up at all or do they vanish at a certain point while playing?

If I recall correctly from when I first started messing with source, only certain models work with certain entities. Say for example I set an object like a PC monitor to be a prop_static it would not appear as it should be a prop_physics.

They do not show up at all. Its just random models.
So, basically, the things I made just have to be prop_physics. Really, it just consisted of...

x2 couches
x1 wooden table
x1 refridgerator

I'll try making them prop_physics, even though I like them as prop_dynamics.

Whenever you put a model you haven't memorized the usage for, check the 'info' tab in the hammer model viewer. It'll tell you the prop data, whether or not you can use it as a physics prop, static prop, dynamic, etc, and even which of the two physically simulated blue barrels to use (the one with less mass, so you can pick it up without the grav gun)

Also, another error... for some reason my light_environment isnt doing anything. The entire level that depends on it is pitch black...

Have you set the pitch and all the other settings correctly?

You did texture some of the brushes as tools/skybox, correct?

And I mean the whole brush, not just one surface of the brush.

Isn't the ground beneath those props a displacement?

-1 pitch is almost completely horizontal. Try -45

Better yet, use this article and match the light_environment settings to valve's standards for the sky you're using.

Satchmo had it right! I had made the outer part of it nodraw. Thanks.
