Hello guys.

I recently created a map, and after closing WC, and reopening the map, it loads and displays it, but the editor does not respond and I'm forced to kill it.

Has this happened to you before?
Is there any way to rescue my hard work?

Also, I'm running both WC and Counter-Strike under Linux with Wine.
Could it be possible that it's a problem with Wine?

I don't currently have access to a Windows box, so tell me whether or not you are able to open it on Windows.

BTW I'm running Wine 1.3.13 under Lucid Puppy Linux 525.

The aforementioned map is available here. It's in RMF format.

Worldcraft is about twelve years out of date.

Get Hammer 3.4, then update it to Hammer 3.5. You won't find any support for Worldcraft these days.

I suppose I should actually contribute to this thread...
kaeza, try looking for a file called [the name of your map].max. change the file extension to .map and try to open that. Occasionally WC/Hammer corrupts a file for unknown reasons (even more recent versions for Source do this) and you have to use those emergency backup files that are made on compiles. (Or is it saves? Can't recall.)

I have a .map, but it's also corrupted, I guess I'll have to work my way up from an earlier version of my map.
@cStriker Why that face?

You can see the BSP that was compiled before the corruption here

As suggested by JeffMOD, look for a .max file. It's a backup of the .map file. You may also find a .rmx file which is a backup of the .rmf file.

Also you should only load and save .rmf files in Hammer, never the .map file (unless you know what you're doing) because those are used by the compile tools.

Sorry for the late reply, yet again.

I have already downloaded VHE and everything works fine. I was able to load it and edit it again and I'm posting an update very soon.

Thank for your kind(?) replies!!
