Hey,

Does anyone on TWHL perchance have any experience in developing board games or party games? I have a very simple, very effective idea but have no experience or contacts in the field. It's extremely marketable with a wide spanning target audience and could be very easily themed and attached to an existing license.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've made a few for a Game Design course for uni, but they were all cardboard prototypes, and I haven't got any contacts or actual skills.
Good luck with it, though, I hope you can get in contact with somebody in the industry!

What exactly do you need? Prototype design? Electrical and/or mechanical engineering? Quality control?

Making a prototype board game should be pretty simple, i would just print it out and laminate to thick card stock or cardboard(I'm sure there are many other options at your local printing center).

Game pieces you can sculpt/mold, 3dprint, sculpy(lol), etc.. Do you need any sort of electronic timers or anything like that?

well if you are super serious about moving forward, maybe look into applying for a patent?

It's all existing tech. There's nothing to patent.

You might have some luck asking on reddit (r/gamedesign or similar) or on Extra Credits' forum, I'm sure that if either of those communities can't give you what you are looking for, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

I'd probably first design a "game rules manifest" outlining rules, materials, players, end game conditions...
Then maybe go to an inventor lawyer?

In the sense that were it to appear on Amazon it'd be in the same category as board games. Along the lines of Twister or Card Against Humanity - it's a party game.

You could make a game like "LIFE" and call it "LIFE SUCKS" where you never really win, you only do a little better each time.

That sounds an awful lot like Two Decades of Dignity.

Ha, You are talking extreme KY wrestling then, where the pool is deep enough to drown =)
