I was in the middle of mapping, when all of a sudden, I was no longer able to rotate any brushes anymore! Like when I click on the brush, it wont give me the circle dots on the corners like it is supposed to. IT just moves my texture 1 unit over, not changing the handles! I cannot get to the OTHER stretching option as well, WTF!

Try double clicking in the middle(X marks the spot)
And keep your mouse steady while clicking- Thats the only thing I can think of...

Oh try opening a new map and make a brush and try it there(in the new map), can you rotate it? If so you may need to change the name of the other map you are having troubles with..

Let me know of it works.

I've had problems like these, but they I have always solved them by closing and reopening VHE : . If you have no other choice, reinstall VHE.

Basically It means VHE is fcked and you need to re-install it - hey you just said that

Also watch what apps are running in the background... I have that problem if I don't close a few of the apps that start when I boot.

It might be that you made a little bluie box around it - pressing enter should solve that.

So I deselected them,.....I am now stuck again, not being able to rotate brushes. THe only way is to restart the computer, os here goes

That absolutely sucks. Why don't you just reinstall hammer, I mean you cant go on mapping with that kind of problem. Have you got the latest hammer update?

No don't do that the what you selected Is what you will compile--
There should be a button in the toolbar to make this go away,
Its used for when you have a large map and don't want to compile the whole thing(takes long) insted you put your info_playerstart there and select the area you want to compile and test----At the end or the completion of your map you must do a full compile though---Read the help file in hammer/worldcraft---check for toolbars its there.
And for your problem---I'd stick with worldcraft---It rarely screws up with a problem like that...

I had had Hammer but never liked it at all--Sure some of the texture applying options and the 3d veiw is cool-but overall, I'm m,uch happier with Worldcraft.

Monkey Chow~
what do you mean by little compass? I should be able to rotate an object IN Hammer by using the round corner handles. But I cannot get to them no thanks to the mouse select glitch...

Thank you for your effort you guys, but my problem still exists....

Seventh Monkey~
I do not wish to automatically select brushes! I want to be able to ROTATE THEM! After I accidentally select brushes, then deselect them, I cannot rotate anymore.....thanks for your help though

He means the little compass in the entity properties window.

Do you have any odd mouse settings for accessibility? Switched mouse buttons or anything?

Wait, wait : You drag a blue box, pressed enter and many brushes got selected - right. But what did you do after that? Another blue box?
Posted 20 years ago2004-04-23 16:33:06 UTC Post #23617
Ctrl+M is the most efficient way to do it, if you want precise 180 or 90 degree turns, rotates, ect.
