Whenever I run my map I get a D_SCAlloc : bad chache width -4580.

I searched around the forums and found some similar cases, but they all linked to tommy's error page wich just so happens to be down at the moment.

Could anyone help me out?

I searched through it, but it didn't really have my same problem. I googled around and I found other people who have had this same problem, but no one answered them.

Does anyone else have any other ideas? :zonked:

z_malloc failed on allocation of xxx bytes or D_SCAlloc: bad cache size 0

Another insufficient memory or misallocated memory error. Possible causes are many, including too little RAM & also by having a texture perpendicular to the face of the solid with WC. In one case it was a script that shifted models one button. Possible solutions are:
1. For memory telling the HL main engine how much memory to use with HL -heapsize # (1024 x number of meg is popular #) or HL -zone # in the shortcut.
2. For texture perpendicular go into WC/Hammer, then you can press alt + p, and select the problem if it is listed, and tell it to fix all of type; then try to compile again.
3. Or go thru the other errors on this page and try them as fixes. It CAN be frustrating! Sorry.

I get no errors when I run the error check, and what does it mean by a texture perpendicular to the face of the solid with WC mean?

What are you system specs?

What's VM?

And I don't know what specs would have to do with it, but 'ere they are...

AMD Athlon XP 2000+
MSI KT4VL+
512 DDR 333 RAM
ATI 9600se 128meg

Anything else you need?

VM = vertex manipulation.

You've somehow created an invalid brush. Delete it and your map will probably compile.

Thanks for posting properly, too. Coherent and appropriately-titled. A good example.
