I rebooted my comp because it had a virus, and I uninstalled steam and every thing related to it, and now I reinstalled it, but it freezes up when I'm trying to log in.

Rebooted...? As in, you restarted/reset, reinstalled Windows, formatted?

there was time that my steam stopped working for me also. I reinstalled it, and still nothing (belive me i've tried ;) . Some time later i've unistalled it, and later i wanted it agin, so i downloaded it form net installed and i was working. Still not sure why. I know one thing. You need to be very carefull with steam or you can screw it in no time.

Backup your Steam caches and delete the entire folder, then re-download and reinstall steam, then replace the caches.

http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=forums

Delete the clientregistry.blob file. "Exit and Log Out". Log back in. This fixes about half the steam problems.

Also, directly under the STEAM folder, is an errorlog folder. This could be helpful when you're posting at the STEAM forums.

STEAM had several updates over the last week, and you're installer may install an out-of-date version that won't currently work. Get everything "brand new".

There's an option to exit and log out.

Another thought I had was

Are you using a router or a firewall?

Maybe you will need to port forward or adjust your firewall to accept the connection.

Excellent idea. Check your settings, Silent.
