My HL clan and I are going to create a mod for HL2. I'm going to be the mapper for it, and we need some people who can do at least one of the following things:


-Modeling (full body or weapons)


-Custom Sound Designing

If anyone is experienced in one of these areas, plz reply! :)

You shouldn't start making a halflife2 mod until halflife2 comes out. Coding, modeling, and textures are all going to be different with it. Not the same code, they are using sorce and I am sure its different, they give you a new modeling program - I don't know much about that though, and textures are going to be in a new format and better looking. They no longer will have to be divisable by 16 (then it will be 2) and are much higher quality.

So far it looks like I'm the manager, but the site admin might take over later, which would be good because I'd be busy mapping. I started it this early so we can find the people that are good at these skills. We're not going to make the mod the following month after the day HL2 is released, but we'll be working on it then and learning how to use the new tools. It'll probably be up to a couple months after HL2's release that our mod will be finished.

Arrgh. i would help if only.... MY COMPUTER COULD RUN HL2. :( that really blows.. :zonked:

I read something AWSOME about HL2 for you guys... The dood from valve on a site said that it could be easily coded to run mp3 sounds and music instead of the ANNOYING TO GET RIGHT .wav FILES

rofl. i think you're missing the most valuable point, you'll be able to start making it for hl2, that's not a problem, what s a problem is that you plan to have light sabres and shit, thta's gonna take some serious coding, to remove all the other weapons (well, dont really have to but...) and make a whole new bunch of code for at least three new weapons, hand held light sabres. i mean, its totally possible, but i'd spend more time looking for someone who could code that, rather than getting carried away with tex's model's and mapping.

Yeah, but lets say there's a person that's good at coding for HL. He's going to be able to adapt to the new Source code then everyone else. Same goes for others. Besides, it's definately not going to be finished anytime soon after HL2's release. And another thing, are you trying to discourage me? Because I don't give up easily. :|

Maybe your best bet lies in investigating the code yourself... coders are hard to find, especially when you're new to the communities they operate in.

Well, at least I've started to code myself rather than wait for someone else...

Good idea. I've done a bit of coding b4, but the source code is going to be different, so to most of us it'll be totally new, except maybe to some really talented coders. They'll get used to it faster then everyone else. I might have a coder though, a member of the clan.

I guess I could be a texturer. I'm good at drawing...
I will start learning to program for c++ soon, but I doubt I would learn fast enough, lol. I am also going to start modeling...
But I will probably do best at texturing (at least... for now)

PS:Have you got an idea for the story of this mod, or will it be mp?

I could do things such as voice talent if thats the kind of sound stuff you'd need.

I'm a texture artist/mapper as well, though it looks like you are ok on these.

Ok Gman, show me some of your textures. Rapid, I am looking for both voice talent and sfx. I will need a person to voice, and you don't have to have an example on that. A lot of people are talented with making different voices. Go register to the site:

Never really a reason for not registering, just didn't get around to it.

With other projects in the way, I might be a bit delayed on my voices. If you need them quickly or sooner, someone else might be better suited for the job.
