yeh as the title says i was first amazed wen i played half life and at the beggining u ride a train which was pretty amazing bak then to me but now that i learnt you can make maps an mods just like that 'click' i wasnt so amzed but now im puzzled by a few thnigs that haunt me for years! i felt like playing half life again and didnt no how much i missed it lol. i saw sum of the old tricks that scared the crap outta me like wen walls break and headcrabs jump at you or explosions wen u least expect it which makes half life great. so straight to the point i was riding the train again and observed all the tricks they did and thought yeh i could do sum of that but the one thing i said to myself was how do i make the train shape/ brush cause it isnt exactly easy now is it , also the track seems kinda hard and finally after you get off the train the barney lets u out and opens the huge door which spins those wheels around and i was wondering how did they do that. once u hav read all this could yall reply and give me tips or tut links etc

thnx

habboi

p.s. any1 no the name of the mod wer my pic comes from cause i 4 got and it was pretty funny

The train shape requires quite a bit of VM, Shearing, and clipping, but it can be done! Take screenshots and practice and you'll get it, it obviously wasn't made in 5 minutes.

Track is easier - Shearing and clipping.

The door and the wheels were done with a few func_doors, func_rotatings, and probably a multi_manager/multisources, and some clever scripting.

I've seen that pic before, though I don't remember it on a mod...it was on ytmnd.com on a little movie thingy.

Well this is crazy kid talking who has little mapping experince (less than you) and couldn't you just hollow out a box and then slowly make the train take shape?

They should have included the tram as a prefab... It shouldnt really be that hard if you know all the hammer tools. Make the side you want, clip out the windows. Clip a bit of the lower area without removing anything and VM the very bottom to get that little slant.once you finish all that, go back and apply the inside textures. For the door, you need to have a second train with the same origin. Tell them to follow the same path or track, when the tram stops have the door continue on a differnt path for it to open.
The barney is just a bit of scripting, something I've never done.
The door is 2 doors, 1 that goes up, one that goes down. I think the bars at the top and bottom are doors too. I guess the rotating circles are just func_rotating, but I cant seem to get that thing to stop once I start it. If you can great, I would just use a rotating door.
