i just set up my hammer 3.5 to cs 1.6. never done that b4, i just used to compile into cs 1.5, but i wanted to see the models. ok i extracted all the cstrike shit from the counter-strike.cgf with the help of cgfScape.
and now when i try to compile my map it works, but when it trys to load in cs 1.6 it freezes and i have to turn off my comp.. i also tried to load the map without hammer on and it still freezes cs. do i need to move some models or sprites or something to the hammer folder?? any ideas would greatly be appreciated..

Aloha dudes.

no idea. unfortunately i have no experience with cs mapping or seeing models in the viewer (the models took too much time to do and i uninstalled cs and swore an oath against it, ysee...)

Not a clue. Reinstall Windows and it'll almost certainly work, but apart from that, sorry, nada.

My comp freezes when the .bsp and other related files aren't put in the correct folders. Maybe the associated files you found in your 1.5 folder and aren't in 1.6. Maybe hammer is putting the .bsp in 1.5 and you're trying to play it in 1.6....

Models need to go in the game directory models folder, so unless you're HL mapping, they don't need to go there. If everything is setup for CS properly in Hammer, they should only be required in cstrikemodels. You can specify the game dir in your hammer options, check to make sure it's correctly set there.

It often does, and the Windows-included program SUBST is useful for this. Type subst /? at a DOS prompt for syntax.

now am i sapose to setup Hammer 3.5b on cs 1.6 with this screen up here. and instead of putting the valve directory to "counter-strikevalve"
put it to "steamappsemailcounter-strike?" not to sure on 1.6. such a big pain in the ass! not like 1.5. :badass:

Doesn't matter. I wouldn't put them in a Steam directory as they'll slow down precaching times. They're only for your use, so you can put them pretty much anywhere.
