I was bored as hell today, so I decided to look at Half-Life models.

While I was browsing I came across a couple of monsters that never made it into the game, I'm sure most of you guys here have already seen them.

Now one monster in particular caught my eye, it was a thing called "friendly", and here comes the reason of this post. That that?s the horror style Valve should have had in mind while creating all of their monsters, not just this one! I mean look at him!

Imagine if that thing leaped at you while you're not expecting it i.e. you?re in dark room with only one red light fading in and out, and it pounces on you out of the darkness. You'd crap your pants right through!

Some sort of over-grown headcrab. Personally, I don't like his look. A bit too... weird for some reason. But yeah, could be pretty scary when used right.

It has been used in at least one mod, I believe "Todesangst: Der echte Feind".

Its a great monster.

And its in no way related to the headcrab.

It was originaly an unused model in Half Life, everything else just ripped it from the pak file. But if you want to create a horrific atmosphere:
Make it so that you must pass through a very dimly lit area of water with lots of icthyosaurs.... chill.... icthyosaurs scare the crap out of me man...

Well, you can use it in your maps now that it is discovered! Monster-generic would work right, or do those not attack?

They don't attack. You could have it 'attack' something with a scripted_sequence though.

Or if your messing with coding you could use that instead of modeling a new monster with new animations etc.

It has all the animations. I plan on making a scripted sequence where a poor assasin gets torn to sherds by this thing. :badass:

Haha losers, hey deserve it. Black ops are the most annoying enemy in the game... (but they are oooooooh so hot!)

In USS Darkstar they didn't actually do anything, they were in the creature tanks but suddenly disappeared when the disaster struck. My cousin who played through was petrified by the fact that they could be lurking somewhere in the ship...
