when i use any texture from the "halflife.wad" file in the half life/valve folder, then compile and run it using nem's batch compiler 3.0.0, all the textures from only this file appear as small black and purple checkers. but in valve hammer they appear as they're supposed to. can someone help me? thanks for any help.

sounds as though your missing those textures in your halflife directory or in other words

half life is looking for textures that dont seem to exist and replaces those with pink and black squared textures!

Yeah, make sure that you've got halflife.wad in the right directory - although I can't see why you would've moved it.

ignores the possiblity that he's mapping for Source as he hasn't said so

yeah I used the half life.wad from my retail copy of halflife (not source) but am running it on a steam version, but I tried copying the file to the cs directory where all the other wads are, but still no luck. do i have to use gcfscape to get the wad from the halflife.gcf in steamapps?

Try removing the wad from your wad list, adding it again, restarting Hammer, and recompiling.

nah, that didnt work, but thanks for the suggestion, i think it didn't work because i dont use the in-hammer compiler, im using nam's batch compiler seperatly. if there are any other thoughts about why this is happening plz post them! ty

Maybe a wierd -wadinclude argument is confusing Zoner's?

Bit of a stab in the dark, but hey.
