well, quite pointless... make something with more fantasy, originality, more pedagogic words of the same sort.
i mean its good "MADE" but its just a boring idea. and plus make the green glass "see thru"

but keep up the good work ;)

"ain't got HL atm cossa steam"
What's Half-Life have to do with Steam? And please don't say "I can't download it over my 56k modem", cause it's only 590k! The only excuse I will accept is "I broke my HL CD and can't spare the $20 to replace it"

hey im 56k and its gonna take me about 12 hours!

NinjaGrinch you are the epitomy of ignorance. Steam cannot be used on 56k if you live in the UK, or a country that still thinks a 2 hour maximum connection is a good thing. Max download on 56k per 2 hours is about 35-40 meg, Steam can't resume. The first update just to play HALFLIFE SINGLE PLAYER is about 50 meg, do the math.

Think before you post, theres about 70,000 halflife owners still on 56k that'll need many many hours of downloading just to play their game offline, at least 10 thousand of those will not be able to download the first patch because of the aforementioned d/c time, or the cost of a paid-call isp.

Nice word, that, empitomy.

um, i think ng ment not 56k modems, more like 560k modems -
ie: broadband etc...
not that hl was 560k - that's insane and steam can not be used anywhere in the world on a 56k

and if you really care, you'll sit through a 12 , sometimes longer hour session to get the latest patch.. i would

and anyone who's a modem user and is trying to play steam should be ridiculed and made look like a handicap -
LOOK AT THE SPECS:

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP
64 MB RAM
400 Mhz processor
1GB HD space (recommended)
Broadband Internet connection (recommended but not required) - not required as in you can have other connections, like t2 or fiber-optic ones, NOT MODEM

oh, i do love a good rant... :)
no one will read it though, its too long ;)

I read it, but, uh - was it fighting for Steam or against? :

NinjaGrinch you are the epitomy of ignorance. blah blah blah...
And so the ignorant one replies:

1. Steam is not required to play Half-Life or test maps.
2. Steam DOES resume downloads.
3. The Steam installer is only 590k.
4. Per 1, 2, and 3, the only reason I can see for not wanting to use Steam over 56k would be if you broke your orginal Half-Life CD AND you couldn't afford to replace it, AND did you not have the patience to wait for Steam to download and install the full game.

[anecdotal aside]
I have broadband now, but I started out with a 33.6kbps modem, which if I was lucky, connected at 22 or 23kbps, and if I was REALLY lucky, would stay connected for maybe 3, even 4 hours! But if you're a dedicated gamer, then like kol said, waiting hours (or days) for a patch to download is not even an issue. It's gotta be done. Today, with Xbox, PS2, and GameCube giving PC's a run for there money, I guess gamers are just a lot less patient than they used to be...
[/anecdotal aside]

P.S. It's epitome

STEAM's console stinks. :x

Dammit some people with broadband need a 56k stuffed up their arses to learn how impossible it is to use on it. Hours wasted just for the download to crash half way thru. STEAM DOES NOT WORK ON MODEMS, why can't people see this simple fact? My friend and I (both on 56k) tried to get it to work time and time again and couldn't even get a simple game of halflife to run in singleplayer mode.

and its original not orginal too lol OMG I FOUND A TYPO OWNED
