I'd have to say Sonic and Knuckles :)

I agree with ZombieLoffe, S&K was my first console game ever!!!! (I played Doom and Simcity before having a sega genesis)
1996 Tomb Raider and 1997 Age of Empires were also some of my favourites (both have this "ancient" thing about them, it shows in some of my maps too) :)

Top Gun: Fire At Will <3

I dunno, I didn't have a PC back then so I had to suffice with all the Mac ports they released. (Read: Not many ;( )

Gunstar Heroes on Sega - That r0xed.

What else.... hmm. Kirby? :D

It seems some of the oldest games are the most entertaining games ever created: which proves that you don't need brilliant graphics and ultra realism - the only real factor is fun.

I cannot select one game and definitely say it's the best I ever played.

I enjoyed a lot all those Amiga and arcadre games it was possible to enjoy with a friend (Eye of the Beholder, Hired Guns, RodLand, SWIV, Dragonninja, Z-out, P47, Street Fighter, Double Dragon ...), regarding now our cold, egoistic and always crashing and out-of-date, noisy and ugly PCs :| ...

What's wrong with you!?!!1
Well, actually, I had Leaper (you know, the frog crossing the road and the crocodiles), Pleb (a bit like Space Invaders, but you were the sole invader, bombing buildings and crazy robots) and APB (a police driving game) on my 8088, and Lemmings and Lemmings Paintball on my 200MHz PII. That was all, apart from a coupl'a demos from friends, up until about 14 when we played CS for a day solidly at school.

The Doom series, and all those 'you are God build a city or empire' type games... speaking of which, I just obtained an Age of Empires II demo, which I am pissing about with... I may have to go out and buy it because I like making stuff.

I had forgotten about lemmings! god i love that game... the little groovey green hair.. i have a theory about how they became extinct and jumped off cliffs etc.

Once upon a time there was a REALLY REALLY ugly little lemming, and all the other little lemmings made fun of him.
One day, the litttle ugly lemming came across a little lemming lamp which a litttle lemming genie popped out from...
'For awakening me i shall grant you.. hmm... 1 wish' Said the little lemming genie.
'oh, thats easy!' Replied the ugly lemming, ' I want to be the sexiest lemming in the world..'

'Granted,' Boomed the genie, 'But for this you must sacrifice one of your senses'

The ugly little lemming thought about this for a while.
I cant sacrifice my hearing or my smell, i need those to find food, he thought..
I cant sacrifice taste or touch or my life will become ever boring..
Finally he decided.
'I shall sacrifice by sense of sight'

'DONE!' said the genie and dissappeared in a puff of logic.
So the little ugly lemming became the sexiest lemming in all the world and all the other lemmings followed him.. The little girl lemmings experienced their first orgasms and followed, the little boy lemmings turned instantly gay and followed and all the old lemmings thought he was handing out pills, so they followed.
Trouble was, the sexy lemming was now blind and walked straight off a cliff, taking all the other lemmings with him...

THE END

good story.

I used to have this old computer game called Dogs of War. It was a top view, 2 player, split screen, coop, shooting game. The object was to clear the levels of all badies and the better you did the bigger guns you could buy for the next level. one player would use the arrow keys and the other one would use asdw keys to move. Im not sure what year that was, but it was fun.

I also like the old NES games. original Mario brothers, Metroid, Zelda, river city ransom. I know those arent computer games and some of them might be from the late 80s but I dont care.

Oh yea. Need for Speed! Ive wasted many hrs on that game. Only the first two, after that I sorta lost interest. One of my friends had NFS1 on 3DO with a big screen tv, I used to play that every time I got the chance.

what's the point of Moonstone by the way ? I played it again some months ago with WinUAE, got the four keys, killed the map boss, the dragon and all other comp opponents, but the game didn't end and I finally just quitted so I was fed up wandering in the map :| ...

Oh yeah Need for Speed 3 Hot Pursuit made me waste so much of my time over the years.

I can't believe nobody mentioned Diablo or any of the Baldurs Gates! Those were right next to HL in temrs of people playing them.

"and its so easy, easy, when everybodys trying to please me baby." "Cars are crashing everynight, I drink and drive everythings in sight. I start the fire but I miss the firefight, and I hit that bullseye every night."...... sorry got carried away. :P

Little Tortilla, that game rules! d'you remember the map set in cloud city? i used to play LAN with my brother and my dad (im talkin years ago :P) and he would go vader and id go luke and my brother would go Han and we'd act out whole scenes.. it was fucking awsome.. he would force push a console through the big circle window, i would fall out and land on the edge then run to the end of the platform and we'd have a big sabre fight.. ah good times.

dont remember that one exactly, just the basic maps that came with it, that one your talking about might be a custom one. Loved canyon oasis, nar shadda loading teminal, and especially bespin mining station! using force destruction on the bottom platforms and send em flying to there doom! Might do a remake of Bespin next for HL2, that would rule if I did it right.
