:zonked: I got a problem again :(. On the tutorial that tells you to make the monsters talk, it says : go to the directory of halflife/valve/sound and open the txt documeant sentences.txt Well, sorry, but that file is missing?!
I have the latest version of halflife updates, and Mapping for normal halflife, NOT halflife source. Please help me! Tell me where the sentences.txt is located, I've tried searching for it but I can't find the one that comes with halflife, all I can find is mod sentences.txt which are not useful, please help?

Well I don't know bout you, but my sentences.txt are in:

C:SierraCounter-Strikecstrikesound

If your version is different try looking somewhere in the sound folder... ;)

I forgot to mention, the only thing in the folder is another folder called ambeinces, and in that folder is a sound file called goal.wav? Read the tutorial and tell me if I'm doing something wrong :(

Weeell... about the goal.wav - it's the same with me... Do you have CS? Try the csstrike or sound folders if you have them... With some versions of HL (It depends on the package you are installing it from), the main directory is in counter-strike... Apparently our versions don't mach... :(

I have CS source, but My halflife 1 has nothing to do with steam, If I downloaded counter-strike 1.5 or whatever, how would that help? I'm not being mean, but really?

Mapping for Steam?

If you are, it's probably most likely in the GCFs. Get GCFScape and open the half-life.GCF file.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you read the page. It tells you that you need the Microsoft .NET Framework to run GCFScape. If you try to run GCFScape and it gives you an error, DOWNLOAD THE .NET FRAMEWORK!

Just to make sure people don't come back going "OMG it gives an error".

Ok... So just find the folder from which you take the sounds for your maps.. I mean that you possibly can't do it only with goal.wav :)
And if it's not there, try finding it with find files or folders...

its in the .PaK file with all the other norlmal HL stuff. get pakscape or wally and unpack everything so you can edit it properly.

if your using steam its pretty much the same but all in the GCF

Start > Search > for files or folders > write "sentences.txt" in the search for window.. PRESTO! If you have such a file, like sentences.txt it will find it, if you don't - reinstall HL.

No results, all it can find are gearbox/sounds and valve/conditionzero
or sourcemods/ns sentences. I'll reinstall halflife :(

Get Half Life Model Viewer
http://www.vlatitude.com/files/hlmviewer12.zip

Open it and then
File > Open Pak file
Go to your half-life/valve directory and select pak0.pak.

Click the plus next to sounds to the right. Now there's sentences.txt
Right click > Export. Save it as sentences.txt in your /mod or /valve directory.
