just wondering, what is the width awall has to be so that no bullets can penitrate it? or any bullet-wall information would be helpful

Depends on the mod. DoD has this now, and I think CS does. HLDM prolly doesn't.

It sure doesn't

Only the Gauss gun can shoot through ant type of wall thickness.

<arcastically> Yea very realistic in HLDM!!!! :P

Double walls all the way

i was thinkin CS.. i made a map before, and any rifles were shooting through walls everywhere

Shooting through walls? That sounds interesting. Reminds me of perfect dark's FarSight XR-20 railgun! I didn't know rifles shot through walls though. Try setting the walls as func_breakable, strength 0, and (although it seems strange) material type unbreakable glass. Bullets will only leave holes in that. Unfortuantely, it will look and sound a bit odd. Sparky with a glass sound. Hmmm. I don't know. Double brush walls?

i think double brush walls would b a little irritating. although u could just use the 2nd clip 2 split the original brush. ah the farsight...

just make sure the walls are func_walls and not just world objects, the rifles and night hawk can shoot through the walls but im not sure about the others

I've got no idea! I've never had a problem with shooting thorugh walls!
Just make them solid objects!!! :)
m0p m0pIllogical.

Hmm... I haven't fully tested this but if you do a twin wall:

like that, then the bullets are only coded to penetrate 1 wall...

well, if you can prove me wrong by all means go ahead, i'd like to know too

Depends on the mod. I'm not positive that DoD bullets can't punch through more than one.

Who said IcompugodI was referring to it as a PROBLEM? It's not a problem you HL-freaks you! In CS, it's part of the game! It's often a good idea to shoot through a door (if your weapon allows it) to get any mother***r who might lurk behind it.

I tried this once, and I think the AK47 shot through 8 units, not 16. ... Not positive though... Simply make a map with different walls with the thicknesses 1,2,4,8, 16 etc and make a wall behind (with a plain texture). Get lot's of different weapons and start the experiment! (look for the bulletholes in the plain texture)

Calm down, it's just a problem... more... a confusion... for mappers.

calm down and breath in.....and out........and in.... so your calm now?? it is a problem if you dont want bullets to penetrate walls

After testing the "bullets through wall" thing in CS extensively, I can assure you that there is no real way to stop all weapon types from shooting through walls. A lot of it depends on the orientation of the wall in relation to the grid, the thickness and what type of projectile is hitting it. Doubling the wall (two wall's) will not always work, adding a seperate filler brush between the walls as a baffel will not always work and texture types may or may not work.
At the end of the day, if you are behind an office wall and the guy on the other side has an AK47... then you might as well start praying. Eventually, he will get you and that is real life!
A 7.62mm weapon on sustained and direct fire will eat through log's, sand bags and concrete as though they don't exist.
A .44 magnum round is designed to punch through engine blocks and kill the guy on the other side of the vehicle.
Either way you look at it, there is no real solution. You have to make do with the projectile physics that the HL people coded into the weapons and build accordingly.
It isn't a problem, just slightly annoying at times, but then again... so is life.
