Hi,
i have recently taken up mapping for source but my map graphics look really bad (like i'm using Half Life 1)... Can someone plz help me or give me some tips...

and put in some env_cubemaps, and enter buildcubemaps into the consol

  • No env_cubemaps
  • It's a bit blocky
  • The texturing is badly done
  • fullbright

Thanx for the advice... I will try to work out the cubemaps thing. I'm interested about the bad texturing because i recognise that. any tips there?

Texturing isn't so bad, most textures fit well on their surface, but it's plain (and yes, some textures don't fit their place right). Adding trims, picking some better textures (especially for that bathroom) would do the map good. But it's also the very basic architecture that makes it look bland.

Don't forget the lighting bytheway. Even simple architecture can be made looking good with carefully placed lights.
