Ive been having the error: cannot find proper dll file to load. I changed the game executable in the build programs to another directory. Since im making a CS map, I thought it should go to CS.exe. There is no CS.exe, only HL.exe, or hlds.exe I tried other outside compilers, but when I opened them it said cannot open, program will terminate. As this happened, a MSDOS window flashed on the screen for a second. Please I dont want to move on in map making until I get compiling down. Please help!

Do you have a compile log handy?

This might be caused be several things. HL and hammer being on different drives. A compile error produced map-data that is unusable by the other tools...

CS usually is a mod of HL, meaning that you still run the hl.exe, but with the '-game cs' command.

Just run the game manually instead of trying to get it to run automatically. This has been posted dozens of times: search the forums in future.
