This package contains several example maps that demonstrate how to use MESS (Macro Entity Scripting System), a custom compile tool that lets you create reusable and customizable templates. MESS itself can be downloaded
here (direct download link:
mess_1.0.zip). For more information, see the
readme and
entity guide. For questions, feel free to ask here on the forums or send me a PM.
- macro_insert_example shows how to create multiple monster warps for different monster types, with a single
macro_template
and a few macro_insert
s. - macro_cover_example shows how to quickly add detail to a piece of terrain by turning it into a
macro_cover
and combining it with several macro_template
s. - macro_fill_example shows how to fill a pool with leeches, a room with steam particles and a ceiling with lamps, with the use of
macro_fill
and macro_template
entities. - macro_brush_example shows how to create gratings and fences that can be shot through without manually adding clip brushes, and how to easily cover trigger_hurt entities with poisonous clouds, with the use of
macro_brush
and, of course, macro_template
entities. - rathunt_example is my take on Rimrook's Rat Hunt Template. With MESS, it's easy to add a rat (just copy a
macro_insert
entity) or to adjust the number of kill-messages (just modify the custom 'total_rat_count' map property).
