I've been tinkering with it again. I haven't really got the time at the moment to make the movie I intend to make with these particular characters, but I made a picture because why not.

@Dimbark: I didn't want the crossbow to dominate the map from the tower so if you want to get up there and snipe you need to work for it. That's also why neither of the towers can see more than 50% of the map.

You know how sometimes your brain goes really really retarded and mixes two completely unrelated topics together and you make a response based on that and you end up sounding and looking like a complete fucking moron?
Well, for some reason I thought there was a bunch of other shit posted other than "lol got spam in my mail" and now I look like a fucking idiot now that I've reread it and all that extra information is not at all there. I could have sworn there was other information posted that I was responding to, but of course it has since conveniently evaporated from my mind.
I've been working full time on top of going to school full time so I think this is the point of my exhaustion that I must excuse myself from the internet before I really do something embarrassing.

You can buy anything at much lover price if you get to know certain people, especially those who deal with missing oversea shipments and direct factory prices.
By accident i stumbled upon a guy who sells electronic components (such as capacitors, relays, transistors, SMDs, etc) by factory price. Up to 10x cheaper than some places.
Plus you could probably find good deals on garage sales and on-line/real life auctions. Some guy sold expensive LEDs for pretty much 1$ each a few days ago.

You sound so irrationally angry. People are ridiculing this because it's spam and the robot that sent it didn't know that posting about "lighting" on TWHL isn't going to mean that you're interested in industrial lighting equipment. Don't blow a gasket.

It's funny because none of you actually use physical lighting and are ridiculing the shit out of this, but if this thing was powerful enough at a reasonable price it could very well be a great deal--Lighting is fucking expensive and you learn to appreciate good deals on things like this.
I had the displeasure of using what must have been around a $100 LED panel (like the ones you see on ebay for $30 but because it's brand name it's 50x more expensive) and I couldn't light anything with it. It had an effective range of about 2 feet. Useless for anything but giving a faint blacklight on my subject.
Yet somebody donated to me a vintage "Movie light for super 8 cameras" and it's nearly as powerful as the professional stage lights we use on production. And it cost $11 brand new back when it was produced. Too bad you can't buy a light that powerful nowadays without shelling out at least $100.

The center area needs a lot of work. And the towers don't have much purpose unless you've trecked from the middle of the map just to bring the crossbow.
I like how you can crouch behind every railing for cover.

Having now played it on a full server, I would suggest getting rid of almost all conventional weapons and making it a much more gauss-centric map. Like, almost every weapon drop should be a Gauss, with possible exceptions being crossbow and RPG

Excellent map, Urby.
The whole map makes use of few textures with the same color scheme, thus making the colourful teleporters stand out as the main unique tools of the map.
And seeing where you are going to be teleporting was also a nice touch, helping new players getting to know the map a faster instead of them having to explore every part of it.
I believe it should also play well, the gun placements look solid and gravity + gauss on an open map is always fun.
Only complaints I have are that the teleporter seems a bit buggy. It repeatedly activates the sound while you are standing inside it... thus making it easy to abuse and annoy other players.
The ambience is a bit boring, triggering a few alien sounds in the distance should provide a more dynamic ambience.

Right, rolling out the new (and final) version of Altdel to the server now that I've had some big playtests and feel confident about the changes.
I'll let you know when it switches to the new version on the map cycle so you can still play the current version until Multiplay upload the new one. (I wish I just had FTP access so I could do it in like 3 secs )
Anyway, to celebrate it being finished and to thank you for all your feedback, here's the RMF for the final version. Don't judge the lazy brushwork too harshly, it was such a short timescale for production that I couldn't afford neatness.

Like this seriously lucrative deal on lighting! I've had my email on display here for seven years and this is the first that's come of it, so it's probably not worth the effort of taking it off.

Tet is spot on. The freelancer in me requires that I make myself contactable at all times. If you're hard to reach, you'll miss out on seriously lucrative deals.

You find that funny, Ghoster? Well guess what, it isn't.
I got one of those mails too. Thought it would be wise to hide my email address on my profile page, it was visible since I first signed up here 11 years ago.
EDIT: I'd shrink that image down so it's not eating your journal if I had any idea how.
Enough to amuse me. (:
@Archie: Not a bad idea... Hmmm...
Love it.

I needs to get on the server to check it out! When do you guys normally play?

Great theme, great design, great Scott!
