Assuming you're using goldsource, you can upgrade to Spirit of Half-Life (SoHL) which gives you additional DLLs and mapping entities. AKA a 'Move with' option which will parent the door to the elevator. If you're using Source, you can just set the elevator as the Door's Parent. Grouping a set of entities in the developer environment is only useful for selecting and modifying a group of items - it has no affect on the compiled map. We're not hustling you at all, it's just the reality of Vanilla Goldsource's limitations.

I would calculate the maximum wattage used on the most complicated system you would want to have. Buy a power supply to match that if you're actually planning on going that far.

Yeah you want to go 402+15 or 25% (460-500). Standard Engineering practice. 500 watts should do nicely and give you breathing room for future expansion.

I'm also at 10+ years. I also feel like i grew up with you folks. I still remember Archie as the sassy Hunter, and all the massive dump trucks of fail strewn across the threads. Happy anniversary man Where do you work now-a-days?

To expand on AJ's explanation, Short-Circuiting stuff breaks things because as resistance decreases, current flow increases. IF you put more current though something that cant handle it, things smoke, fires start: stuff breaks.
I've washed circuit boards before with zero issues. a bag of dry, uncooked rice helps to absorb any residual moisture.

Guys, water only damages electronics if there's power flowing through it causing short circuits. So long as the capacitors on his motherboard were discharged, and he let everything dry out COMPLETELY, it's 100% fine.
I've hosed down my amplifier heads before because my band mates spilled beer in the vents... more than once...
Make sure to apply thermal paste based on manufacturers recommendations. Do a memory test too

Haha. Yeah I give it a visual inspection while i clean my case fans, but all this dust was hidden beneath the fan shroud. I couldn't actually see the dust. I try to take care of my machine but I think I've learned a lesson and will be more vigilant in the future.

Unreal 4 is pretty epic. Although it's $20 for a license. Unity is free however. Ask rim about unity, he did some rolling ball thing with it a few years back.

Pretty sure it just changes the brightness of the textures based on rays traced from light sources. The lightmap grid holds light information every 16units i think by default. Models get their light data based on their origin and player gets light data from whatever floor surface you're standing on.
I think...

That's a cute creature you have there. My mom had 2 King Charles Spaniels and they're great. Pugs are full of energy and love to play so you're going to have a wonderful pet.

Family and friends take care of everything that's outside a book. And in my opinion, one of the best things in life is learning by first hand experience. Failing at something is the best way to learn, and anything self taught is best taught.

I suppose if you're the environment artist you might want to step back and start creating a library of modular assets that can be used in various levels. Make generic textures for now, nothing crazy, but enough to get some work done.
I wouldn't stress until it's really necessary but try to do as much as you can with your current resources.
I agree with the rendering framework. Once you don't need to worry about that you can move onto the gameplay code.

Cyanogen is Android. Plain and simple. But it's customized for layout, look and functionality per phone and really, per developer.
It's nice for Samsungs because samsung likes to put a lot of bloatware on the phone. So when you go with Cyanogen, it's a barebones system, like an OEM install of Windows. Whatever is on there is put on there by you and you alone.

For collision, see if you can attribute basic bounds per entity. Spheres, Cubes and Rectangles are simple. Code it once, give it attributes for length, radius, width etc. If you're coding something more than once, try to make a function out of it. I wish you the best of luck man. What language is everything in?

Haha thanks Capt and Stu PB is right in his speculation. Func_doors evaluate to a 1 when open and a 0 when closed. At least when they're triggering multisources. All we needed was a way to invert the door values. Put a trigger relay in the way that's initialized to 1 and BAM. 1 becomes 0
You should probably ask Satchmo all your questions. He seems to be doing things right!

Sorry man Goldsource doesn't support that.
Buy a power supply to match that if you're actually planning on going that far.
SURPRISE!
Welcome to TWHL - It's broken here.
Can't wait to play it

I'm pretty sure the barnacle's tongue reaches the floor beneath it (minus a few units) I'm not sure if there's a minimum or maximum length however.
Happy birthday!
Start with a box and a light - get it compiled.
Then make 2 boxes and put a zombie and a gun in there.
the rest is up to you!
I try to take care of my machine but I think I've learned a lesson and will be more vigilant in the future.

Thanks all, I appreciate it
I looked through a shitload of journals.
There was no hint.
that's (seriously) the one subject you need to master
And in my opinion, one of the best things in life is learning by first hand experience.
Failing at something is the best way to learn, and anything self taught is best taught.
It boiled down to figuring out how to invert logic. I've never done it before.
If you need, just ask.
Just keep your head up and keep chugging along.
