Tutorials are there so we don't get pissed off with you for asking dumb noob questions, and then we can't be bothered to help when you have a real problem.
That isn't horribly vicious, it's teh plain and simple truth, take killer73863767856787856756278 for example, I've answered alot of his questions, but he keeps coming abck with things that are covered by tutorials, so when he gets a really nasty proble, we'll just see the thread title ofgm biig PROBLEM HELP me NOW!!111NOW!! and skip right past.

He's using ZHLT (I'm such a newb basher I helped him set it up yesterday), I'm guessing you have no problems with Batch Compiler.

Check the mapname.log or mapname.err[/b] files (same folder as teh .map file).

You did Export To Map and compile that right? Of course you did :P

Well, check those error and log files, and post them up here, if you see the word LEAK you rememebr how to find them?
Fly around outside the map and look for gaps, preferably in 3d flat textured in teh camera screen.

All assault remakes have been remade from scratch, and if you can't remake a map like assault (which is as basic as they get in terms of bad mapping), then you shouldn't be allowed near a decompiler, decompiling a map causes the brushes to be split, and then you have to repair them, and then you spend weeks, and months, just getting it back to it's original condition, and then you have to start modifying it.

So if I was you, I'd quit the decompiling idea.

If you want to play around with assault you can have a copy of cs_junlge_assault.rmf to look at/edit/claim as your own in Hammer.

CS has never done that to me, I load up the map, type:

(in console)

developer 1
r_speeds 1

and it streams perfectly, I haven't heard of this from any mappers I have known, and I mainly 'hang' with CS mappers.

OMG man, seriously, read what is posted properly, or take your time, english ain't ya first language, but hell, if it is, man you need to get schooled.

Read:

Open the texture tool (left hand side, the cube with a different colour on each side), highlight the 'arrow' texture, and tick the box that says To Face

notice the Fit button, if you aren't already using it, it can be good for little things like that.

now close the tool, and there ya go

clicking To World will return the texture to it's original form.

Experimenting is a good point, but the quickest way for him to do what he wants is to just use the To Face method, also good for smoothing out those clipped/vertexed faces (like ya didn't know, but he doesn't).

The main point here is, experiment, and head over to IRC, you'll get quicker replies, and less flaming ^

You don't need to make HalfLife again, I'm just saying that a mod is a very big project, that takes a few people to finish.

To put screenshots in posts, you upload the picture (must be a jpg) to www.imageshack.us and copy/paste the url of the picture (ie: http://www.imageshack.us/blah.1.jpeg=?php.id.etc.bllablah) into your post.

You can always find people to help you by talking to other mappers in IRC, look <-- there, under forums it says IRC, click on that (if you have an IRC client) and you will be taken to the channel.
Chat to mappers tehre, I don't know one person as a real friend that maps, we mappers are few and far between, as it's pretty boring really, anyone you know get excited by a door that doesn't close when you stand underneath it? Or a wall that you can walk through? No, didn't think so :D

There's alot of mature peopel here, and we need to get togetehr and decide who is going to take over, the move has to be slow and thought out, so taht all problems are addressed before they happen.

And when atom can't do it anymore, the community lives on...

Don't f**king lie! If you'd read teh tutorials or typed barney security scanner tutorial into Google you may not have had to post this thread.
