There once was a Cow
Who sucked at writing Poems!
And thought he was cool!

Your 'thing' sucks :D Now make my heli go boom boom :D

But back to seriousness there is a writer in all of us. It is up you to whether you tap into that interest. You can even write a poem on a thought you want to chuck out to everyone but have them not fully understand. Like Zombie. He told the World he loved Pr0n ;O

Well the simple kind that is...Haiku!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiku - For those who don't know.

Basically it consists of three lines. The first having 5 syllables, second having 7 and the third having 5 again.

Aka I wrote this one while near the River Thames in London in the afternoon:

The River Flows Down
And the Twilight is Setting
Louder is the Wind.

Usually you write about seasons without hinting it or something you saw that inspired you. Right now it is raining over here. Perhaps if it is the same for you then you can write one to do with the gustily rain :D

Have a try fellow poets D:

Clicking create a mod and following the steps will create a sort of empty version of Half Life 2. You can add maps etc but by default it'll be like loading HL2 so you'll have all the weapons.

in Wanna make a mod Post #235021
Alright I assume this MS Visual is linked to coding?

I mean to make a mod you need levels right? So you use the SDK found in Steam and a program within that called Hammer which you use to make levels for the Source engine. If you want to make things like custom weapons then you need to model them in a modelling program such as XSI, 3DS Max, Maya etc. You'll then need to export it and rig it and then code it in.

So I mean if you have no skills at all in any of these sections then I highly suggest you start with Hammer in the SDK (Source Development Kit) in your Steam Games List. If you need tutorials on level design then I suggest a few places but since I have Hammer / HL2DM open at the moment I am only going to link once since long lag is looooooong.

http://www.interlopers.net/index.php?page=tutorials

Have a look at these and I hope they help. Feel free to ask anything else.

You'll need to use a custom FGD for Hammer CSS which contains the entity you need. Google for it.

in How do you set buy zone, hostage rescue Post #234789
For buyzones you want to make a block and texture it with the trigger texture. Then go to Tools, Tie to entity and select in the list: trigger_buyzone. Set it to CT or T and voila place where you want and resize where needed. Repeat for other team.

With hostages I'm not so sure...You place some hostage entities so I assume npc_hostage? Or something...And then I'm not so sure whether you place info_nodes for them to know where to walk...I think someone else can answer that.

I gotta admit Playbus he has a point. I mean clearing your PC of useless files surely speeds it up since it doesn't have to go through all those files to do what it was told to do.

ANYWAY changed my mind. Ordered PC right now and got a confirmation. If it interests you the specs are:

Intel? Core? 2 Quad-Core QX6700 Extreme Processor (2.66GHz,1066MHz,8MB cache)

4096MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [4x1024]

750GB (7200rpm) Serial ATA/100 Hard Drive with 16MB DataBurst? cache

SINGLE 768MB nVidia? GeForce? 8800 GTX graphics card

So lets get this straight. So far we have:

Disable the indexing service, Disable un-needed Windows services, Enable advanced hard drive speed options, We have the programs Strider suggested but you need knowledge of your processes (something Task Manager can't tell us), Diskeeper, Tuneup Untilities, avoid stuff like Registry Cleaners or Registry Defraggers, Avast Scanner, Sygate, CCleaner, Spybot / Ad-Aware.

Ok so I'll get all those and do it every week :P But seriously you don't need all of those so I'm going to think wisely about which to use.

Could you explain the whole understanding the system? I can imagine what you mean but you can't avoid the horrible bugs that latch onto you as you swim through the interweb so surely the odd scanner here and there is good for it. What I do know is things like regedit can sometimes move or delete files that are vitally important so I may steer clear of those sorts.

in Advice on looking after your PC Post #234721
As some of you know I'm getting a new PC soon. Well actually ordering tommorow now and I want this one to last even longer than the one I'm using now. Basically I know the basics now on how to look after a PC such as scanning weekly and defragging etc and just keeping things tidy.

But Madcow gave me a small list of things to do every week such as:

System Mechanic, Free Ram, Reg cleaner, Advanced Windows Care and the typical Ad-Aware and Spybot etc...

I just wondering what other things I should do to make my PC last longer. Because after 3 years with this one I have some issues with flash, removing SP2 didn't help it either and just the odd glitches that only a reformat could fix now. But I've only ever had 2 PC's so I still don't fully know how to look after it...Advice?

Well tried it last night. Decided Spy has become awesome again :)

But yeah it feels kinda Quake Ish mixed with TFC. I like it actually but I need a fresh start. I played it quite late and didn't really take it all in. Only grudge is the mod is quite demanding and I get quite a few lag spikes even on medium. Also the sniper charge is far too long...

Overall as a modder I am impressed. I think now the mods survival will be in the hands of the developers updating it etc.
