Trying to recreate this? -
User posted image
I recognized it, but only because I know a lot about dams and am building the same thing ;P - I like the supports, they change from the reference but it's still recognizable. Don't forget the windows. Also, that platform should ideally be concrete - Change it to a wall portion instead of a hanging metal platform and then incorporate the canals models for the generators I'd say. Also, split up the back walls into different brushes (128x) for standard wall heights, maybe 256x for this scale. It makes the textures look better.
Why does the site still say BLACK MESA: SOURCE, then?
Noone has PSDs for the theme ;(

dont dam corridors bend in a ) like way?

That first picture looks familiar RabidMonkey! Black Mesa: Source anyone? Oh wait it's been renamed hasn't it? :P
Aye, but it's such a subtle bend because the things are so massive. You can't notice too well. Additionally, you can't go all throughout the dam it seems - There's some stairways and maintenance routes but for the sake of flood protection a lot of it is blocked off and water tight.

Hoover dam ;] - And yeah, renamed :F

I think as a part of the refract shader it's a little shiny anyways. You should probably be envmaptinting it to about .1 if you don't want it shiny.

in New map,de_Dam with screen: Some idea&#3 Post #159606
There's already a de_dam - Might want to change the name. Doesn't look like the inside of a dam to me, either (yes I have been inside of one) - Most of the corridors aren't fancy, have a fancy vent and pipe system, and aren't too big. For gameplay this can be adjusted but stick to something more angular and even square perhaps.

some ideas for dam tunnels and such are here too.

Colour mod is probably a shader call, but it has to be instanced from the code, ie garrymod's implementation.

Speed modifiers can probably be done with cl_ or sv_ commands.

in HDR Update Post #158429
HDR is suprisingly simple to utilize. Firstly, you'll want to use an env_tonemap_controller, with a logic_auto to fire some inputs to it. Then, you need to run RAD with either HDR parameter -hdr or -both, -both compiling both LDR Fallbacks and HDR while -hdr compiling only HDR light.

As for the details for the logic_auto and the controller - The values are SetContrastScaleMin and SetContrastScaleMax, and you have to play around with different values to get a desirable result. Try something like 1 and 10 for great contrast range. You can adjust it ingame with the ent_fire system too.

It could easily be a faulty card...or it could be the new nVidia drivers. NV has been releasing some real PoS drivers since June or so (The ones they forced me to use with the BF2 release were horrible and BSOD'd every few minutes) - Either return the card and see if it's replaced with a working one, or try rolling back to an earlier driver version.

It shouldn't be a driver problem when Windows is starting, though. Check your connection, check the fan connection, check the temperature, and make sure you have enough power to run the device. (I'm running on a 205w power supply, NV and the card manufacturers usually recommend 230-50.)

Trapt made his post based on someone's opinion, you can't just go around saying 'omg this is wrong habboi is right' because what he's saying is just another opinion too. It's all a matter of who's opinion you choose to listen to, it seems most of you take habboi's explanation over the one Trapt is referring too, that's fine, but you can't say "Trapt was wrong habboi is right" because its all opinionated and you cant be sure its true fact. Not that I'm taking sides, either could be true, but he doesn't owe anyone anything, I don't remember him saying "I'm right omg this is fact" or anything, so he has nothing to rectify really (other than posting additional info), so unless you guys have solid proof and can identify the actual story then noone is right, so quit saying people are wrong and just prove it and get this over with. I'm not going to lock this unless people keep spamming with COMPLETELY USELESS crap, it seems there's a valid discussion going on, no matter what it's over.

Edit: Kasperg has good advice. It's true, if you know you can't deliver and use other people's work to show off, they might be impressed but they certainly won't be when they find out it's someone elses stuff or that you really can't deliver.

It's pretty much a worthless option for recovery in HL1. The cuts it makes into the geometry are ghastly and ruin the chances of recovering things for the most part.

WinBSPC always converted solids properly for me but did not store texture coordinates or information. BSPtwoMAP always worked and saved the coordinates (mostly) but did not retain original solid information.
