Sounds like a workaround for 'carrying entities' into the next level to me, which I'm fairly sure can be done more effectively.

I personally use a trigger_once around the location of the player spawn rather than a trigger_auto because I find them a little, uh, crummy sometimes (crashes, failures to fire, etc.).

Don't be silly, that's IE, hence the name :P.

chow: you're wrong.
Hrny: you're a teensy bit so too.

The definition of broadband is pretty arbitrary. Dual ISDN (128kbps) is considered midband, so I guess you could say that 129kbps is broadband. Narrowband is practically synonymous with dial-up.

You may well have problems from a filesystem point of view with:
  • Things spread across drives;
  • Spaces in pathnames.
Read the Steam tutorial (on your left) for a workaround (it's the bit at the end).

Often when one hits the void it will make that splash sound. Just a game thing.
Same as the lag thing. Possibly connected, or maybe Gabe Newell is an amphibious lizard mutant beast and likes the sound of water.

Use NULL to produce undrawn faces in-game. Good layout and neat building is the best way, though.

One can toggle changelevel entities, you just need to tick the appropriate flag (possibly "Use only").

Thanks for the interesting question, by the way :). Haven't been many recently.

Use a multithreaded multimanager, and another multimanager triggered simultaneously with the original trigger of the actual shake-causer, as so:

1. multimanager "shaker"
2. env_shake "shake"
3. multimanager "killer"
4. trigger_relay, killtarget = "shaker"

Trigger 1 and 3 simultaneously.

1: Key "shake", delay 0.1,
1: Key "shaker", delay 5

2: Length 5.05s

3: Trigger "shaker" after 20s.

Are you sure it's not working very quietly?

On Windows XP:

Start -> Run -> sndvol32 [return].

Options -> Properties -> Adjust for recording [OK].

Options -> Advanced Controls.

"Advanced" beneath the "Mic" slider.

Turn on the +20dB option which shall almost certainly be there.

Internet Explorer is a huge security problem, not to mention being outdated, slow, ugly, and restrictive. There is absolutely nothing good about it.

As for firewalls - je ne sais pas quand you last used a firewall, but they're all pretty easy to configure to allow hosting of games. I should know, I regularly do with that firewall. They're essential nowadays.

As for the last bit, we'd stress it differently:

"What's wrong with this software?" - plain question
"What's wrong with this software?" - comparison to other software

Use a multimanager, with the multithreaded flag checked, as so:

Name: threeminutemessage

Then add, as you normally would with the entity (read the tutorial if you're not sure):

threeminutemessage, delay 180
<your game_text entity's name>, delay 1.
