There's an example map on making monsters patrol. It's covered in a tutorial too, one of the In The Beginnings. Making them walk to a particular place is covered in pepper's very own tutorial, Scripted, and several other example maps.

No, they can be set up exactly the same as a func_train but targeting '_tracks instead of '_corners.

There's always the Entity Guide. The Map Vault too, I think one of our Scandanavian comrades made it, but regardless, there's a great func_tracktrain example map in there.

As Captain P says, get Hammer. I also suspect you might be using the archaic Quake compile tools, get Zoner's tools. Both programs are available from our Links page.

As for point three, you can't spawn extra hostages during a round, but they automatically respawn each round, as 'P said.

I don't think that's necessary, I think -wadinclude only includes used textures from those WADs. Couldn't be sure though, never tested.

Fine, if you feel that strongly I'll go with no models at all. It's a mapping competition!

This is completely uninfluenced by my inability to model :) Sounds and textures are easy for anybody to do to a fair level, but modelling's more complicated, more of an art in its own.

Okay:

Gold: PTS with his Nazi Eagle.

I just had to put this first as it was almost perfect and so detailed. It would've been a good idea to tie the entire eagle to a func_wall, though, to prevent face splitting and ease up on VIS doing needless calculations. Also, the Swastika should've been rotated forty-five degrees, Google for reference pics and you'll see what I mean.

Silver: rowleybob's open computer.

If it'd been slightly more to scale, had whirring fan noises, no big green random things (lights? They're already on the texture) on the keyboard, and a better monitor image (that really let it down), this would probably have won. Pity you couldn't use stuff, but hey, y'can't have everything. Really well-made with superb attention to detail.

Bronze: Peace and LOve's Playboymachine.

This was a really nice neat little computer on a well-made desk, but it was kinda missing something. Perfectly to scale, and, er, nice and stuff, but not as impressive as bob's little fans.
