I assure you, this is not intentional.

As for HL?, it seems that everybody's opinions are the same so far, Andy's and mine included: get there first, do it best.

I remember being a little reluctant to register at first because I'd seen so many bloody phpBB registrations and didn't want to wait for a stupid confirmation e-mail. Perhaps we should reassure registrants that it's not like that here.

How are you running the mods?

Try launching HL, then clicking "Custom Games", select the mod and "Activate".

Bear in mind that you can no longer play multiplayer internet HL games except on Steam.

And you should know that shud isn't a word Seventh.
I know full well, and if you paid more attention to my posts and MSN/IRC you will have observed my Steinbeckesque habits in some phonetic typing for a friendly familiarity feel :P (whilst maintaining correct grammer. Take heed those for whom desire of mild colloquialism is employed as an excuse for failing to do so).

Oh, and @Ant, I'm fairly sure that there should have been a semicolon after the first item of your list awhile back ;)

I think the idea is probably a you-can't-fire-in-this-room-'cos-it'll-explode, so he needs a non-solid trigger which I think is looking less and less possible without code.

Wait, maybe coat every surface with very thin func_breakables and use them to trigger whatever?

Google finds things through links. Get links on indexed pages (even things like posting your addy in your TWHL help, and help quite a bit as TWHL is pretty damn popular).

My webserver was the number one hit for my name one day and it never even occured to me to search for it. All it is is a title page and a few buttons, but 'cos I filled the URL in tonza profile pages on various sites, it got high up.

It seems to have dropped entirely from the first page (at least) since I tore apart my index page which is a pity, but it can get back up just as fast. Mention your name on your pages a fair bit, consider putting it in the title.

Look up META tags perhaps, but I never used them and got to #1 on Google.

Experience comes from practise. Practise comes from experimenting. Experimenting requires work, and maps that you should throw away and not release. Hint.

Move the WADs out of your Steam directory. Do not put any un-GCFed files into your Steam directories as it is unnecessary and Steam will probably have a good ol' cry.

Easy solution, move the WADs you have extracted to somewhere on your C: drive.

Slightly better solution: move ZHLT to your D: drive.

You should keep all of your HL stuff on one drive as the tools are old and find it difficult to comprehend the idea that anyone actually owns a 'hard disk' and isn't loading from the HL tape.

in Problem when running custom map in Steam Post #54412
Hm. Well, such is the curse of Steam but here're some suggestions:

1. Check that you're not compiling with a custom WAD that they don't have;

2. Make sure that you are not using any other custom materials;

3. Find a clean installation of 1.5 (no downloaded or other custom stuff) and try your map, you'll likely get a more verbose error report (i.e. any).
