just remember this! wadname " scroll******* ".wad ... then also when making a scroll texture in wally or psp, design it to sides ways. it scrolls from left to right when creating it. and thats all i can do for now.. gotta go take a mean crap! lates :zonked:

you should go into hammer goto the toolbar and find load pointfile, then find it where youre zhlt are. then it will show you!, but i had this shit happen to me before.. make the walls thick.. for example. make a big box around your test level, then hit hollow (ctl h) to 32. then try. if not! reinstall hammer, because its causeing your entities "info_player_start" to look right through the wall. thus the leak.if trhat fails. turn to the leak profile tutorials on the net. ;)

if it is a .map or .rmf you need to open it in maps then just select the prefab, press creat prefab on right of screnn then voila.. other than that read the tutorial that comes with hammer. ;)

no no no! you have to save it as a 8bit to make its file sive worthy of ambient_generic... then what i do is i go strait from my sound forge 7.0 to goldwave. thats the only program i know that makes que points. then voila!! you have a looped sound. you could also try this.. it has worked for me before. when you have youre sample out. press the loop button on the top toolbar. if im not mistaken that makes quepoints. sometimes for me. try that dude! ;)

3rd. does it have the right letters? " up, dn, lf, rt, ft, bk "
4th. did you place it in youre "cstrike, or half-lifegfxenv" folder?
5th. did you stub youre toe? cuz i just did and it hurts alot!
6th. im probobly just a stupid hawaiian! so wait till someone else answers your question if you dont trust me. ;)
and last but not least! 7th. if all else fails, run away to the Circus!...

ok i mad a room with a sky and i put 1 env_light, 1 env_rain, and 1 info_playerstart. then i compile using " VHE 3.5b,
cs_expert-tom793_wc35.fgd, and zoners newest custom build tools. "
then i go into the game and no rain.? i tried typing in the consol "cl_weather 1" and nothing still happened.. where could the damn gremlin be so i can shoot that bastard!!!??

anymore help would make me piss my pants with envy.. ;)

youre map has got potential.. it doesnt lagg at all on my comp, and mine is really old crappy ibm.. maybe you need to manually delete the history, temp, temporary internet files, and defrag.??
oh! and you need to add a step in the tunnel! once you get down there youre stuck to be shot at.. all jumpable items have to be 1/3 or less height to be able to get on them without low gravity.. just a little pointer. ;)

i got me vhe up n running now. but i cant get the env_rain, snow, fog, or fade to work.. i notice that with the tom cs expert 1.6.fgd came sprites and effect sprites.. where do i put those? do i put them into the steamcstrike folder? i really want a dark gloomy rainy hawaiian paradise map. oh ya! can you have like an env_fog, and an env_rain in one room together? or will that lagg to much?!?

i certainly appreciate all the help Captain P and seventh-monkey and all the other guys give me.. ive finally resolved the problem. once i reformatted my computer again, plus D drive and reinstalled everything. steam cs 1.6, hl, and vhe 3.5b it all works for me.. but i still cant get the env_rain, fog, snow, fade to work... i dunno how. ;)

i know a good one! trial and error! you dont become an artist by reading....

and try not to take me as a jerk thats what i did, and now i make highly detailed graphic images and .wad files. ...one pointer! if youre not sure if your texture will tile nicely.. press the tile button. assuming ur using wally, or a related program. ;)

Hey! i know you can help me! i just started mapping with steam and VHE 3.5b and now that its working i cannot get it to load custom sounds, sprites, and models. even the ones from half-life.gcf " im using cs 1.6 by the way " when i make a map it compiles fine, then when i try to load it in cs. it stops loading and goes back to the main menu. where do i place the models, sounds, sprites? and where do i select them to be read from in VHE? :

it stops because it wont load my custom sounds, sprites, and models.. how gay is that! and i cant get anyone to tell me where they need to be so they will read right. also i need someone to tell me what file to select the models from in hammer with the cycler_sprite. also with the sounds, and sprites.

sorry for all the threads trying to fix my gay steam problem. ill make it up to u guys later. when it works ill make a TWHL custom map. ;)

first of all. i have put 20 trigger_once entities together no spaces, and it didnt cause a problem. it just made it a little slower.

second i would use a multi_manager to split up the task of entities you wish to accomplish at once.

and third. the teleport isnt got anything to do with it. the problem lies in yours multiple entities triggered at one time.so use multi_managers. i have made a map that i had 13 guys teleport at one time with no loss in r_speeds or errors.

did you merge the files you needed? im guessing that you have some pretty big textures. soo....try merging the ones you need and only the ones you need into like a wads.wad file.

i dunno if it is only in spirit. i have a new up to date cs 1.6 .fdg
but it wont load any custom sounds or sprites either...
oh ya! im using cycler_sprite to place models. it works with models that are from the cs.gcf but not with any custom or half-life ones. im starting to really hate steam and hammer3.5b.. any clue on what to do or where to put everything? :nuts:

no moatter what i do! no matter where i put my wad files. it will not be found by hammer3.5b to compile.. ok i want someone to tell me where to put all of the files. im gonna reinstall hammer, cs, and steam. and i need to know what files i should extract from the .gcf and exactly where to, or not to put them. and i cannot find a site that has hammer3.5b setup for steam so i need someone to tell me where to put the directories please. i beg of you! i need this to work! i need it to find my .wads so i can map again!

use the lights.rad as you can adjust what textures put off what light and how much. i would recomend using like a little red light by the door to let them know thats where it is but not bright enough to see the hole. ;)

im still trying to get hammer 3.5b up on steam cs 1.6 for the first time. i use to use cs 1.5 and hammer 3.4.. now when i extract the gcf file out and i use the wads from that it tells me it cannot locate them. can anyone give me the exact location im sapose to have the wad folder at??and do i need to load them from the extracted gcf or not? or copy and paste? heres the error.log even though i posted the problem.

hey man! the same gay shit is happening to me now. i just switched to steam and hammer 3.5b and my maps wont work either! I have been running around the room with my underpants on my head shouting Wible and it still doesn't work! i tried reloadin steam and cs and hammer. but it still doesnt work at all..it just freezes with like 6 bars on the precaching left so i have to turn off my comp.
im thinking its not loading some texture and not telling me, or a model.

i really hate it that steam wont tell you what file your missing like in 1.5. ARRRG! :badass: im gonna try scrap my damn good map, and make a new one from scratch. compiling every 10min.

well i hope yours and my damn problem will clear up really really really really soon if not now!

try merge some of youre wads so there are fewer. mine wouldnt load so i had to do that. now i have my wads.wad that has 3,576 textures in it. be sure not to go over i think 8,000 textures or it will crash hammer ;)

yes they can
very simple. a func_button will be invisible when you compile youre map. and you can shoot it to trigger it. only problem you cant use it just once. hope that helps you. ;)
