That site in particular has changed URLs many times over the years. Every time I go to look at it, I have to find the new URL all over again. Which is probably why not many people know of it.

How many WADs have you loaded in Hammer, and how long is the path to each WAD file?
Alternatively, export the map as a .MAP file, open it in notepad, and paste the first 5 or 6 lines here.

in how to rotate/flip/? textures to get the Post #273089
The important things to notice in this case are the green and yellow texture axis lines. When you scale negative, the axis doesn't change, but when you align to face, the axes are rotated so that they are flat against the face in a certain direction. Notice that the green axis doesn't move but the yellow one is flipped. This means that the texture normal has been rotated to face outwards relative to the face rather than inwards.

Unfortunately you can't manipulate the texture axis directly, apart from these three operations:
Rotate the texture (only rotates on the XY axis, you can't adjust Z)
Align to face/world (limited to only two different axis positions)
Alt+Right Click (dependant upon the last selected face)

In an ideal world you would be able to choose the normal vector of the texture axes, but typically you don't need to, as it would usually result in stretched textures, and that kind of control isn't really necessary. You can always cheat by rotating your brush a bit, turning texture lock off, and rotating it back. At least I think that works.

Sorry, I went on for a bit there.

in Netbook Post #272952
I got an Acer Aspire One when they first came out. It's great for uni because I need to travel quite a bit and it's lighter (and cheaper!) than a big laptop.

I haven't tried running Half-Life on it, but somehow I have a feeling that it wouldn't work :P I should probably try it anyway and see what happens.

One issue I have is that the default 3-cell battery only lasts 2 hours or so at full charge. This was pretty bad last year when I had a 3 hour lecture that was mind-numbingly boring and I had nothing to do for an hour after the battery ran out! You can buy a 6-cell separately, but it's not worth the cost in my case. Looks like the one you ordered has the 6-cell battery already though :)

They're good as long as you don't use it to do much. If you find yourself doing a lot of typing or other activities that may be hindered by the small size, it might be time to get something larger.

in a little disturbing... Post #272272
Heh, way to dig up the past. I like to think that I started out that thread logical and sensible but started getting rather ticked off as the thread descended into madness. I regret it (and a few other similar situations), and a while back now, I made a promise to myself that it wouldn't happen again. The "Rowleybob incident" was before my time.

The problem with being a moderator on a site is that when this kind of stuff happens, there's absolutely no way to wind up as the good guy at the end. If you close the thread, you're a nazi who "abuses power" and "prevents free speech", if you don't, you're blamed when it gets out of control.

I like to think I'm at least a little more mature now then I was back then. I was a terrible admin to start with, and I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the best person for the job. But, for all the stuff that happens, I'll stick around, and try to improve the site code. With Grim, Daub, and Strider as admins (who are all less likely than me to spit the dummy), you're in good hands.

Nope, you have custom titles too. Check your profile page, you need to check the "use custom title" box, or your title will not be used. The custom title text box doesn't appear at all if you don't have custom titles allowed.

Op4 and BS are definitely not "free". You have to buy them just like any other game. Valve are selling content and you're giving it away for free? How is that not a problem? Also, just because other people did it doesn't mean that it's right.
