Having a screenshot as a background for anything on a site is an awful idea, because it;
a) Steals attention from the logo itself
b) Often gives stark contrasts from the text, making it harder to read
c) Is almost impossible to "fit in" with the rest of the site.

The template is alright, I guess. Some of the fonts needs changing and a few more "flashy" additions'd be nice.

I'm not too happy with how it turned out, but it's a general idea. 800x200 is really big, by the way. When you get to making the site, make sure it's smaller than 800 pixels wide, so you cater for people using 800x600 as their resolution too.

I must agree with Anty on the design and colour scheme. Black-on-Orange looks pretty... soggy. I'd much rather prefer a more neutral white/gray silvery scheme, with a fancy 2.0 look. My header will be in shortly.

Anyone notice there was no pyro or medic?
You could actually see the pyro, just not from his POV.
Looks pretty neat, but I don't know.. the TF2 gameplay is a bit.. meh.

Anal maneuver, ha!

I'm looking forward to Portal more than TF2. I never got into the whole Team Fortress thing. Any game that incorporates "concing" as a common expression must be questionable.

In any case, I'm buying Episode 2.

If you need design, CSS or HTML suggestions, I'm all there, :) . I suggest putting up an information front for gamingparents.org so people know it exists.
Make it state the purpose of the website and an approximate ETA on the actual content.

With 200GB bandwidth per month, you can afford pretty heavy traffic, I wouldn't worry about that.

And yes, limiting the forum to a maximum of 4 sections would be a good idea. Too many sections make a site very confusing and almost always makes it seem empty.

Seriously though, good idea, I'd love to pitch in if you need help with anything.

You can easily adjust both colours, brightness, saturation, contrast etc. from various menus once your fractal is done. Also check the "mutations" window, to see if any of those look cooler.

I'm using this, as opposed to my old DELL-standard stuff. Works pretty well, I've never seen the temperature go above 55c, idle is about 50c (on an old Pentium 4). Since it's temperature controlled, I'm assuming it won't let the PC overheat. However, I only have one case fan. Oh well, it's been working so far, will get another when I can be arsed.

I've just got into making fractals with a neat little program called Apophysis. It's pretty fun to be able to create complex, nice-looking shapes without any skill whatsoever - the image editing itself is mostly random.

So, in this thread, post your fractals and whatnot. Here's a few of mine to get you started;

in how to add pistols on ground in CS? Post #193840
You can't. Atleast I don't think so. CS just doesn't have the option. And there's no such a thing as a GDF. If you mean FGD, they really don't matter to the game itself seeing as how it doesn't change anything but hammer.

Your best bet is to make a game_player_equip and give the players guns at the start.

There are examples of existence everywhere, but you can never show me a place where there is nothing. You just have faith in nothing, that's all.
I believe lots of things exist, just not a divine being of all-encompassing power.
It takes a lot stronger will to beleive in something than to beleive in nothing.
That doesn't even make sense. Oh, I believe there's a flying spaghetti monster in the sky, so my will is much stronger than yours? Belief has little to do with will.

only one bit of evidence to prove it (The Bible)
My apologies.
How is a collection of fictional stories evidence?

In any case, the video isn't an attack on christianity per se. It's an attack at people imposing their views on others, using christianity. Just listen to the damn lyrics.

Wow, pretty breath-taking, very good work to you, sir. The lighting is superb - however, I'm not sure it's suited for HL2DM. Dark maps in fast-paced multiplayer are usually not a good idea. If I were you, I'd consider making it HL2SP primarily, then releasing a HL2DM version. But it's up to you.

In any case, good work. Could we have a scan of the layout, perhaps? :)

In source mapping it's considered ugly, seeing as how the standard is to scale them down to .25. Not that I see how it significantly improves image quality, but y'know.

in you domain sites? Post #193740
You need to get a webserver. They come in many different forms and flavours, but I personally recommend Apache, which is completely free and is what I'm using to host ZLDB.be. If you hop on IRC I'll help you set it up when I have time, seeing as how the documentation is harder to understand than it should be.

Punishing people about their views is always wrong. If they're being racistic or utterly intolerant of others, that's a good time to take action.
Besides, according to nickelplate, my (and others) views are probably more extreme than his.
