Steam has exactly the same features as normal HL. As it needs no new fgd files. The only difference modding wise is the menu gfx and folder layout.

I can run Steam fine on a Pentium 3 500MhZ with 128mb of RAM and a ISDN connection fine. All the games play at max res and the ISDN connection doesn't lag hardly. Steam 0wnz. WON on the other hand lags like hell on ISDN. Unplayable sometimes even.

Oh, and your WON installation is still in tact too.

One great thing bout steam: you need it to play NS3 which totally 0wnz over NS2.

Any third party mod can be used as a server and a mp game. Just run the server from dedicated server and it will appear in list of servers for that third party game.

It is command line based and command line options can be long and confusing, but try it anyway. Oh, btw, there is a problem with using the .net compiler with the sdk. Theres is a supposed problem with a line in hud_spectator, but the error dont happen under vc++ 6. So if the toolkit dont work, get vc++ 6 instead.

First off, the only games on PS2/PC that you can get on Xbox are all below average games compared to the rest of the Xbox library. That's what you get with multiplatform ports.
Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic was f**kin amazing. Also, Hl2 will be ported to X-box. You calling those games below average? Use your below average brain to figure it out.

Yes, you could use the regen code from the agrunt gun (dunno what the real weapon name is but alien grunts have it attatched to their arm). You need to know some C++ though and be skilled playing with the sdk.

There is rumours windows is based on unix which is also the base of linux. They DO NOT have the same code. The only similarity is that they are based on the x86 arcitechture which means they will run on an x86 processor from the 286 right through to the Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon. Of course, Windows would never ever work on a 286, but you get the point.

Any pc can run linux, it is normally x86 just like windows. The only difference in base architecture is it isn't total bulls*hit like windows xp (cos microsoft reckon they coded it on a unix base, total BS! It's NT based!).

Linux with WINE and some windows emulators 0wnz for games. I can get Half-Life and everything on it. Gonna try Vice City on it soon. Quake 3 runs 10x as fast on Linux.

It does work but it ruins the map. Especially if you want a multiplayer map which has to have VIS compiled (it doesnt actually have to, but it runs better).

Dude, you use 1 texture in your map and it is from the liquids wad? delete all the tfc wads unless you are gonna make a map for TFC. The hlbsp error is pretty self explanatory.

The newest graficcards support v3 already.
The only card to support SM3 (Shader Model 3, which is a update of Pixel Shader 2) is the GeForce 6800 and it sucks. The x800 supports v2 but has future support for sm3 with driver updates.

I made my site in notepad. It sucks atm, but I am rebuilding it from scratch currently. As for shoutbox, you need a host other than freewebs. WebHostFreaks have php hosting for minimum $6 per month. I use WebHostFreaks Gold service which is the second best one. You cant just make a template though, you gotta make a proper site. There are tools for this though so thats ok. For shoutbox, download it from txtshout website and upload it with ftp and chmod the shouts.txt to 777 (use a tool like CuteFTP for this if you don't understand).
