They are the particle effects.

see? Particles. Fuckloads of particles!

I've also managed to make fire, bubbles, dust, vent coolant mist, chocolate rain, smoke, etc. and a variety more. They are included in 6D. Its a shame no one ever really uses them. The aurora system is primitive but effective in the right hands.

In detail, you can make a small and easy script to handle the emission of sprites from a point entity, or bind it to a position, like a monster. (flaming zombies in goldz0rz for example :D ) They can also animate or choose a frame to be used, which can be random. Just about anything with a number can be set to random, so making effects is easy and variant everything.

I'll add to the original script document and release it too, it was inconclusive and there are more commands than it lists. lame.

if he understood that it just needed to be 1 map, (gameplay optional) he would've likely pwned everyone (or at least placed) with his brushwork skills alone.

There's always MotM ya know.

i think the compos should be 2 months each and every other month, one is judged and restarted. Gives optimal time for entries to get awesome looking and plenty of time to finish and tweak without worries. that or we need a judging team for both source and goldz0rz, like the MotM team.

EDIT: oh yeah, the HL tentacles always give me the Zeebie-Geebies.

I think Zeeba-G gets special mention for all this. I liked his entry too. The first part was awesomely mapped and the some of the sounds were retro as hell.

in Elevators cant lift pushables? Post #252273
I found that HL can lift 1 just fine, its when the player or another pushable is stacked up it doesn't seem to work. Like the elevator will push up on only 1 but not a dozen.

Using spirit, it is possible to enable a 'Movewith' to tag the extra boxes and junk to the elevator so they act as together better. I don't know the details but its completely possible in Spirit.

If you make a minimod, we'd be glad to play it :D

Well, its a matter of out smarting each other here. If you beat it without cheating, its ok I guess, I want you to have a tough time and have fun thinking of the various ways to use the skills given to you in the game.

If you have to cheat to get past it, I win.

YAY! new page!

EDIT: Heh, if you have to make something idiot-proof, for a moment you have to be an idiot. :D

EDIT again: Bawwww i can't make a particular puzzle cuz something is wrong with the func_water entity. It turns the water hollow and uncolliding, and entirely useless. I tested against regular HL, so its perhaps a spirit or 6D thing.

Grim is really gewd with the dramatic concert stuff, which is great for the single player mode, but for classic mode, it was going to resemble generic techno-type-tetris music, which was going to be done by me. I'll pick up the slack one way or another. I don't think you should concern yourself with it.

yes

align and adjust one face, then select it and hold alt and right click a face connected to it. Hammer will align the face you clicked with the one selected. select that face, hold alt and right click the next one. you can go around until you meet your starting spot. It should work.

Sorry guys, I took the day off. cleaned my bathroom and did a load of errands. I already have some decent mapping done but not nearly enough yet. I don't have anyhting that will melt heads yet. I managed to get more than I wanted to get done yesterday. But meh, life happens. Still looks like we'll hit the mark I'm sure of it. :D

Since I have a self proclaimed holiday, I'm makingn papercrafts. So far I made a snark. Haven't put it together yet. If it works I'll post it. But I'm not doing anything serious for 6D, all that cleaner gave me a raging headcake.

clever use of the NULL texture can make models cast shadows. but remember that the lighting for a model is sampled from what directly beneath their origin.

-gamma # (decimal) That will do the trick I think. You can also try:
-ambient # # # (RGB, default 0 0 0, black.) This will tint and also brighten your shadows. Just for a little lighten up, use a dark gray, although you might want to play with some colors to find out what can look good.

add -bounce # (minimum of 0, integers only. Default is 1) in the rad command line or turn it on and adjust it in your batch compiler if you use one. That sets how many times you want light to bounce off geometry. it can fill in the shadowed areas naturally.

also, -sky # (minimum of 0.0, decmial, default is 0.5) can be used to control how much light from the sky spills into the shadows in outdoor areas. Great for indoor/outdoor maps where lighting changes.
