I think that's for recording a demo, which is not quite the same. It is saved as a file that stores every keypress you did while recording, like a macro in Excel. In game, you load that file and it basically plays again repeating what you did the first time.

I think I've actually never seen a sloped elevator like this, and I guess this jitter is the reason for it.Check out the elevators in the Eiffel tower.
What I understand as Instant Mix's problem is that the elevator rotates on a horizontal axis to be perpendicular to its path, instead of staying perfectly level. At least in HL1, can be fixed by using a func_train instead of a func_tracktrain.

Actually, that's pretty clever. You only place its MODEL, and then a trigger_multiple on it that activates a mapwide weaponstrip. There. Everyone will go get whoever goes for it

I'm sure the drive itself is fine. The issue is still there even with the drive unplugged (as in, right now)

@Soup: Just unplugging the hard drive didn't help. I'll report back when I plug it back in and restart. At least I'm almost certain it's not the drive.
@Crollo: From reading the first 10 pages of Google I figured I had to check on the service. The service doesn't start because the driver is corrupted or missing. Or rather, it starts and automatically stops with a message along the lines of "got nothing to do". So yeah that's the first thing I tried. I have to find a way to restore the driver, but I have to find the mobo drivers first. I'll do that as soon as I'm done with the most urgent homework.
@commieman: Will check on the next boot. I don't see why should that have changed on its own, though. I'm the only user of this computer and nobody has changed it.

Crollo, if you create your own mod, you CAN skip the plain HL UI.
Just have the desktop shortcut target "hl.exe -game crollosmod" (assuming your mod folder is called "crollosmod"). No extra effort required.
