yeah, still having problems with the light, heres what it looks like when you get to the top and your inside the elevator:

also, when you walk around the walls seem to pulse, the light reflecting off them is dark, then gets lighter, peaks, and goes dark again, only as you walk around not when you stand still

Found the problem and its fixed, used the wrong texture, theres two textures with the same look but different name, just tried the other one and it works

Ill try to add the counter-weight, the problem Im having at the moment is once you get to the top, you step out and all the lighting is screwy :-

Working on it now though...

Im trying to have a skylight in the top of the roof, but the sky doesnt light the room up, I have the light_env up and the brightness set to 900 in it but still its pretty dark, ill post more once I find the problem

i agree with fear, the thread has Work in progress in the title, I think the map looks awsome, so if you want to flame someone, just dont post, if you want to compliment someone, or give critisism, then go ahead, just dont be an @$$ about it

ok, added some barrels, decals, tables, canisters(need to make em flamable yet) and some saw blades, and added an elevator to the end of the second pic, need to do the up-part of the building

My elevator shaft is pretty bland, how could I improve it? Its jsut a metal shaft with some lights on the side...

These are work in progress mind you, there will be more props in the finished version, Ive tried to keep the rooms as un-square as possible, what do you mean by Point-Lighting Zombie?

So I decided to start working on a HL2SP map, needed something to do and to prove that I can sorta map ;)

Anyways, takes place in some underground base yadayadayada...something goes wrong...zombies!!!!! Get out before you die ect...

ok, how do you make the prop_static lights, "LIGHT" up? the light_glow thing doesnt work does it?

I have the proper light (env_light or light_env i forget) but its not bright enough...
Ill try it again after steam is done updating it, but I think its really dark still, well, too dark..

Ive sorta struggled with this for awhile now, I cant seem to get my outside maps too look real, its always too dark and such. I have the proper light (env_light or light_env i forget) but its not bright enough...any help?

I have a 6600GT and i havnt experienced any sort of problem, what monitor do you have? Maybe its something to do with the refresh rate? or resolution? try running in safe mode...isolate the problem before assuming it is the card, it could be a corrupt driver, but it sounds like a bad card :(

I was pumped for a source compo, but sadly, and ill admit, im too much of a noob at skybox's to make a "3d skybox" and for that reason (and me getting abunch of good games from xmas) i didnt make one, a source compo of an older hl1 compo would be good?

haha, that same thing happened to me when i started for source

The noobiesh problem was when i hl1 mapped and couldnt figure out how to see my map in 3d with textures instead of wireframe :P

yeah, looks cool though, and its actually 4 pictures, that I shrunk accordingly, lined up, and then feathered, without tutorials, it took about 10-15 minutes from finding the pics to saving the image

Well, short of reinstalling it, which is what I would do, you could uninstall the custom weapons sprites, cause that sure looks like a custom sprite to me, maybe the positioning in them got screwed up when the new update came out

I agree with Kasperg, Im on 56k, and have been updating for ever..if i had my choice, i wouldnt update till after I go to my brothers (highspeed), it gets tireing having to download 15+mb on 56k (1.5-2hrs) and steam...explorer(not IE but windows explorer) has crashed 2 times during the update, its getting really frustrating, then Valve releases another update to update the newley released update..

it does work fine in source, i did it once for a test, had a little "teleport box" and a tube with a headcrab in it, the crab didnt survive, it teleported physics objects too, like a suitecase

Anyways, I think to do it you can set (in the npc_maker's properties) a first path_corner, then you make the path corners all the way into the house.
