I've tried Crysis in DirectX 10 mode. Didn't really notice any difference compared to DirectX 9.

I personally have to use Vista, because my new laptop - and laptop manufacturers in general, as I see it - doesn't support XP anymore. And I hate it. I have to buy another gig of ram for it to run good, to be useful, even if I don't use that fancy, fucking retarded aero-look. The constant questions are annoying as hell, and I didn't bother turning it off yet, because I can't find it easily - but something as shitty as this should be easy to turn off.

Man, I wish I could install good ol' XP on this thing.

These lyrics and songs would only be made for the lulz, it's a parody of a philosophy teacher on our Uni, who we renamed to Super Cock. So it's not particularly deep, and we don't want to create a masterpiece.

That's why we would like to use a simple application, in which we can put some primitive songs together.

Btw, I'm planning on learning how to play guitar in the summer, but I think that we wouldn't need such knowledge for these type of songs.

I and a friend of mine came up with lots of lyrics for rock/metal songs, and would like to put these lyrics to music. There?s only one problem: we have absolutely no experience in playing any instrument whatsoever, so we would like to make these songs in some kind of simple music editor, that doesn?t require us to know ? for example ? how to play a guitar.

I was thinking of an editor, that uses samples, i.e. different guitar riffs. I know that there are lots of programs out there, but I couldn?t really find one, where you can use electric guitar riffs as samples.

So, does someone know such a music editor?

I also had a microsoft mouse just like that one, for like 3 months. After three months I've smashed the fuck out of it, because the cursor often jumped around on it's own. It was especially irritating while playing games. My roommate had one these mice, and he had the same problem aswell. They sucked.

you can't have actually played it then.
That is correct. Because, as I mentioned before:
I play Bioshock, and my roommate plays CoD4.
I'm only watching as my roommate plays it (not every single time he plays), so I might be missing on the full story, but from what I saw, you're constantly changing between the POVs of the american and british soldiers - connected with short cutscenes - following objectives (take out the tank, get to the LZ, kill Al Dunnowhat'shisname) and trying to prevent a nuclear war. The graphics and cinematics are quite respectable, but it seems too monotonous for me.

I have both games installed on my rig, I play Bioshock, and my roommate plays CoD4.

I can't really say which one is better, I personally don't care much about CoD4, since it doesn't really have any story (only objectives), just marching on and killing anything that moves and isn't allied with you. But my roommate likes it, and if you're into this sort of I'm-in-a-warzone-with-mah-fellas-felling, than it's you're type of game.

Bioshock has a great storyline (as Blitzkrieg already mentioned), nice atmosphere (victorian architecture with steampunk flair), and the degree of customization is also great - you can modify you're character to match different combat styles.

Fat, ugly women running at me, wanting to have sex with me.

Seriously, as Hunter mentioned, unexplained gore does the job, but I think that in the case of FEAR it was only scary until like half-past through the game, there were too many little girl appearances, blood puddles and it wasn't scary anymore. Other than that, I believe that the good ol' "boo" tactic is quite effective, i.e. being in a dark room when suddenly a monster attacks you unexpected, or a fat, ugly woman breaks in the door and wants to have sex with you.

1. dm_poisongarden: The ambience, the mood, the lights, the textures...this map is still pure win for me.
2. Life's End: A very creative and funny mod, enjoyed it all the way through.
3. Orb: Great mapping and mind blowing sequences.
4. Star Wars: Again, great mapping with probably the most complex sequences evar.
5. Talking Scientists - Compo 9: One word review: LOL.
