Yeah, all the success stories you see on TV say that.
Honestly, if you come from a poor family and live in a country where education costs money (horrendous, in my opinion), you're quite fucked unless you become famous or rich by some extreme fluke.

in Karate = Heavy Kung fu rumor Post #160424
Kung fu and wushu are two popular Chinese terms that are commonly used as a synonym for Chinese martial arts. They appear by this use in many languages, including English and Chinese.
In legend, the Chinese martial arts trace their origin thousands of years into antiquity. As the Chinese writing system traces back to the Shang dynasty (1766 BC - 1122 BC), claims of entire books regarding the martial arts being written at earlier times are suspect. The Art of War, written during the 6th century BC by Sun Tzu, deals directly with military warfare. There are passages in the Zhuang Zi that pertain to the psychology and practice of martial arts. Zhuang Zi, the author of the same name, is believed to have lived in the 4th century BC. The Dao De Jing, often credited to Lao Zi, contains principles that are applicable to martial arts, but the dating of this work is controversial. According to some traditions, the reign of the legendary Yellow Emperor (traditional date of ascension to the throne, 2698 BC) introduced the earliest Chinese martial arts. The Yellow Emperor is described as a famous military general, who, before becoming China?s leader, wrote a lengthy treatise about martial arts. He is also credited with being the founder of China?s oldest known martial art ? chang quan (long fist). Furthermore, Taoist monks are claimed to have been practicing physical exercises that resemble Tai Chi (or a soft form of Kung fu) at least as early as the 500 BC era.
Karate is a mixture of indigenous Okinawan fighting arts and empty-handed Chinese fighting arts, the latter having been brought to Okinawa by political envoys, merchants, and sailors to and from Fujian Province. Estimates of the amount of Chinese influence vs. Okinawan influence in modern Karate vary considerably, from 40% Chinese/40% Okinawan/20% other to 80% Chinese/20% Okinawan. Some believe that there is also a Japanese jujutsu influence stemming from the long Japanese presence on Okinawa.

In 1722, Sakugawa, who had studied pugilism and staff fighting in China, started teaching a fighting art in the city of Shuri that he called "Karate-no-sakugawa." This was the first known recorded reference to the art of Karate (唐手) in a modern form. The word "Kara" (唐) referred to China itself, and "Te" (手) meant hand, in the sense of a style of fighting; so Karate meant "the Chinese techniques" or "Tang Hand".

Manko: Fascist. Yeah, why don't we just kill off all the poor people? And since the majority of poor people are black, why don't we kill all the blacks, just to get to the root of the problem. While we're at it, in fact, just erase everything but Europe and North America, the rest of the world are damn 3rd world countries anyway.
Students are told everywhere to stay in school, and urge them to succeed in their studies for their future. Not doing so is pure stupidity.
What if you come from a poor family, where say, your father's in jail and your mothers a alcoholic? Where's the motivation needed to continue your studying when you know you'll end up like them?

Saying "it's their own fault, they're stupid" is pretty ignorant, as outside influences play a major part in students dropping out. Bad parental supervision, is, I think, one of the main reasons.

in Bad maps, why are they played?! Post #160419
The general multiplayer crowd (especially CS players) usually don't give a fuck about how the map looks, unless they map themselves. If the map is decently funny and liked, and you get it on a major server, it'll be played alot. Nothing one can do about it.

I agree Fearian, that level of FF7 was superb - really sent chills through me the first time I played the game through.

Ravenholm was also superb, especially when you hear the howls and see the fast zombies jumping from roof to roof against you - pretty nervwrecking.
The citadel in HL2 was also quite amazing with the capsules flying everywhere.

In other games, hmm, it's quite hard to remember...
The part in Quake 4 when you become a Strogg was awesome, but that's the only thing I can think of.

My favorite band of all time has to be Charta 77. A great mix of light pop to almost-metal, often with some political message. They've released 13 full albums to this day, IIRC.

Any swede has to check them out.

Some favorite hiphop artists are Organism12 (and MBMA) and Timbuktu, they're quite elite.

Techno/electronic favorites are Prodigy and Laibach, the latter being ali'l more heavy. VNV nation're great too.

Favorite metal bands are Rammstein, Finntroll, Metallica, LOK (Even though they're slightly rapmetal) and SoaD.

For punk, I'd say Dia Psalma and Radioaktiva R?ker, fair and square. Both excellent bands, the previous being slightly better.

If you disagree with me you're a gay fag noob face fucker.

in Game project... Post #159405
Well, when looking for a team, you should probably prepare some media and a full out story/idea plan first. People generally don't hop on big projects based on some text. Give us some screenshots/concept art.

Also, what can YOU do? Recoding the Unreal engine is indeed no easy task. Do you intend to do most of the work or do you just want lots of people doing it for you?

Well, good luck I guess. I'm not interested, just to make that clear.

Screeny1 clearly the best. Atleast it has nice lighting. Wall facing the player looks quite undetailed though. The other screens have odd lighting, especially that long corridor and they do look quite blocky.
