Haven't they already announced EP4 etc being shunted off onto another developer like they did with Blue Shift/Opposing Force?
In that case, Half-life could easily end at EP6 or whatever. (I hope not).
I certainly hope they are making a better game engine (proprietary, not based off Quake II Engine). Compiling sucks!

well i have no idea how much storage we have, and i dont want to risk it with videos. i dont see a problem with youtube vids tho, apart from quality issues, as mentioned. the problem with user hosted videos is that the link will break eventually :/

it isn't a good port at all, unless you're using vista. G4W live totally fucks up on XP crashes everywhere, stuttering - general fail. don't buy it.

kane and lynch got some bad rep over the gamespot thing, and it's only averaging 6-7, but i reckon i'll.......'get' it and see if its any good. bioshock is great, and cod4 has been labelled as 'the best call of duty ever' (i've played it, it is)
r6vegas2 has been announced, its not too far off, as ubisoft churns out its games fairly fast. r6vegas is pretty good too.
not into RPGs and don't have a 360, so i cant tell you about mass effect.

Back to map vault suggestions please. btw, theres absolutely no way of making sure the user clicked the download button, as srry explained. also forcing users to login before downloading the map is annoying, and the only method of forcing downloads before rating is slow and clumsy.

with the new TWHL3 cookie system i've already created, it will:
-remember over multiple computers
-never log you out by mistake
-if you've spent ages writing a huge post and timed out of the login, it'll log you back in and post without throwing an error and annoying the hell outta you
-only be deleted if you log out or change your password

MOTM system will completely different in TWHL3. votes will not be made, the MOTM will be judged by the rating of the map in the vault. maps get the awards instead of the user, but it will be acknowledged in some way in the user profile, but not in the form of a big award, because the user is allowed to get more than one MOTM.

ignoring valid points doesn't mean your invalid ones are correct. if someone wants to vote for a map, they can. there's no way of proving whether or not they played the map, so you can't say that someone voted to spite you.

if you understand the voting system, why are you still bitching about "anti-votes"? or have you dropped it because you realise it's bullshit?

Not only do I not care about what you think about dm_particle or any other map for that matter, everyone on this site has the choice to vote using whatever categories they want. we aren't forcing people to vote for "best map in kasperg's opinion" we are asking for THEIR opinion. other people have them too you know. they can judge their map on gameplay, on architecture, on how fun it was, whatever they want. and if they want to vote for something because they dont want something else to win, they can do that too.

as you ignored before, i am not taking into consideration my opinion of your entry. you are just being a complete idiot. i am not saying this because i liked the map or not. i would still be here if i fully enjoyed the citizen.

if all this time you were saying that you wanted a silent voting system, why did you fuck around and not say that? you said it once, and i replied it was already planned for TWHL3. if you have an issue with the particular members of the site, take it up with them.

I'll explain it because you seem to have a particular problem with understanding this.

IN YOUR CASE, your map is The Citizen. I say map because I'm not typing map/mod whenever I refer to a valid entry. There are a few people at TWHL - AT TWHL, NOT SOME OTHER SITE, TWHL. TWHL WITH THE TWHL MAP OF THE MONTH COMPETITION, NOT SOME OTHER RANDOM SITE THAT VOTED FOR YOUR ENTRY. TWHL. THE WHOLE HALF-LIFE. Anyway, there are a few people at [m]TWHL[/m] that didn't enjoy your map at all, and don't think that it should win the TWHL MOTM competition because these particluar people AT TWHL think that there are better maps that should win the competition. Because these people at TWHL think that The Citizen (which is only in here because you're the one complaining about people voting "against" The Citizen, which is your map) doesn't deserve the MOTM award, because they think that a certain map is better (in this case dm_particle), these particluar people AT TWHL, NOT SOME OTHER RANDOM SITE -these people vote for the map that they think is superior, because BY WANTING DM_PARTICLE TO WIN, THEY IN TURN DON'T WANT THE CITIZEN TO WIN. IF THEY WANTED THE CITIZEN TO WIN THEY WOULD HAVE VOTED FOR IT.

Please, shutup about the voting system. If it means so much to you that you lose or come close to losing a MOTM competition at a very small community website, you need to take a good look at your ego.

Here's how democracy, including this MOTM vote system works:
1. you vote for a map.
2. the map with the most votes wins.
The end.

If you still argue that the voting system sucks because some people don't think you should win, then it just proves how ridiculously arrogant you are, that you wont accept that someone can make something that people enjoy more than yours.

ok....ignoring that.

I know it hasn't been long, but the magic bbcode buttons are done.

editing the first post will not be done until i get code done to alert admins they they have to check an edit.

bumping after an edit is another story. will be tricky, if not impossible to do without changing the original time of the post.

and muzz.....i've seen that at least three times before, and you'll be happy to hear that no code at all has been done for the user profiles. :^_^:
but most likely it'll be in there.

still taking suggestions for the forums. so far they've all been great ideas.
