I very much doubt your motherboard supports DDR2, and I don't believe it's much cop at the moment (colloquialism: means 'not very good'). Low-latency DDR1 > faster-clocked DDR2. For gaming, at least. Google!

Fifty-four is no big deal. The critical temperature for a Barton is, I believe, 85?. My PC gets up to sixty-something with all the fans very low and low load (overnight)... that's according to (the motherboard manufacturer's) in-Windows software, though; my BIOS seems to report higher temperatures.

Sounds like good advice. It's probably something stealing focus from BF2, but Windows isn't minimizing BF2 and letting you see what it is. If you're then getting connection problems, it could be the firewall. Plus you said it's when you patched ? which would get most software firewalls jumpy.

Well, actually, the full SDK includes a lot of useful stuff, doesn't it? Example maps and suchlike ? not just code. If you do want to program new stuff, though, you'll need a thorough grounding in C++.
