People who make good models tend not to give them away for free.
Once I get my new rig going (after i pay a lease) thats all I will be doing is modelling for Xen Assault, modelling for 6D, modelling for any other mods that need it, modelling for anyone really. When I get bored, I'll map for 6D.

Even though I should focus on my mapping.

Long list is Loooooong...

I remember a long time ago I had to use some console command to display the name of the sounds playing then I had to make my own list because I couldn't get into the pak file. wish I had these lits a long time ago, but things are different now.

I think its better to offer the gcf viewers instead of a list.

It seems like people are straying a bit from the classical religious views. It sounds to me like more ignorance, but the self-righteousness and the belief in one's self and guaranteed immortality sounds good for the age we live in today. I'm christian raised but relying on something/someone that is intangible and unknown involves much more faith than some would care to give, especially when society wants results fast.

People love to believe in shit, whatever that shit may be, because we just don't know about what happens after death. We have a natural mindset that we might as well believe in something just in case.

A real problem with any religion is that the followers of each one believe that their way is the right way. If you believe so, some will fight for it. Like crusades and jihads or the like.

Played the demo yesterday. Got to admit it has quite a lot of pretty, especially the water... i had a watergasm. the plasmids are a fun idea with manipulating enemies and environment to kill, but its not turbo-advanced with gameplay and all that. It'll shine for the moment like Halo and then fade out. If it has multiplayer, it'll last a little longer than that.

it looks pretty.

No way i'm playing it anytime soon. Wish i could but not this time around.

Astounding gameplay is the only way I'd play it. Graphics are becoming so good that its getting kinda boring because thats all i expect is better graphics from the newer games. Its a contest of who's game is prettier.

I'm looking for the update that goes from HL 1.0 to the latest version. Reason being is that I got my mits on an original HL CD in mint condition and can reinstall it, but also I have a friend who wants to cross over to mapping for HL. We both need the patch however. I've tried searching around, but I'm wondering if anyone of the Non-steam diehards still have something of use.

Any help would be appreciated.

... and once I'm helped, it will be Caturday!

in GoldSource Mapping Tips Post #232702
Here's a good one:

Work on the parts that you want to make more interesting than the rest of the map. Rooms that have trademark features or have important parts in them especially. The reason being is that it is easier to make parts then connect them. Also, when time is short, or you're getting bored of it, you have the more important and impressive parts done already. Its easy to rush hallways and still make them look nice. Also, if you're main parts are heavy, you can make a curvey hall to elude the vis to help with the r_speeds, rather than some expensive alternative.

It also works with modding as well. Make the maps with really important events, then connect them. By the time you start mapping, you should have a good idea of what they are anyway.

I got this tip from a game dev book available at my workplace. I never sat down and read through it until recently. Not all of it is very useful, so I didn't buy it.

There is a staff-only forums made... i don't why you're not seeing it.

I increased the permission level to medium, just 1 below full... so maybe you can see them now. If not, I'll have to change the level to full, but then you have the power to demote me from my own mod. :

Habboi, Hunter, and Elzar, you should get a moddb account and let me make you staff members so you can get into the forum.

Hunter is in.

I'm going to make a zip file with a password that consists of all of my notes and stuff no one has seen because of the spoilage.

I will have it monday, not any sooner because I'm going on a quick trip this weekend to my gf's place. She too has helped me on the project. She plays lots of games like Zelda, so the puzzle elements are more of her thing. :glad:

I thought the whole project would unfold doing by myself, but with all of the feedback I've gotten around the school, I've decided to open it up a bit.

Also, I do have a Moddb.com account for 6D, join up and I can add team members if necessary.

Ok, here's some news.

I wrote out the chapters and the main events that happen in each chapter. This is helping with the organization of the game flow a little by giving me s form of skeleton for the game. Which prettymuch means if I make each of the maps with the events, the story is told sucessfully but will be really short. Of course, the filler in between are puzzles to solve as gameplay time.

The reason I mention this is because I would like to assemble a small team on TWHL to share and get feedback. The benefits would be that you get inside info on the dev and plot of the game, the bad side is that it will spoil it for you.

I need 3 or 4 people to help criticize music, sounds, notes, ideas, concepts, and so on. The work will be easy, there's no mapping or anything, just give advice and you must be good at giving it constructively.

It was very glitchy trying to look pretty. I'm sorry but it just wasn't worth it.

To those who can see the prettiness, it might be worth it, but I hope that the gameplay in the future is as good as the stuff packed into this mod. It has potential, but is always succeptible to falling short.

Daubs, i've lost track of the stuff you're doing...

+ Telekinesis Code
+ Added Jump Height
+ Modified Toggle
+ Apache Lasers

The Guardian doesn't need another sprite, it will be fine.

Think of things that would be more necessary, but remember there is only one coder at the moment.

Also, thanks for the Thread Name Change. :D
