if you can afford it (dont know US prices), the 8800GTS 320mb is great for bioshock, dont get the 640mb unless you plan on running 1920 widescreen (24 inch monitor, i think.)
for PSU grab at least 500W, ideally 600, from a quality brand.
dont go for SLI, for reasons zombieloffe said, and although you probably wont be running DX10, its always good to have the option. but dx10 cards are already outdated, thanks to microsofts dx10.1.

i must agree, i just played FF for a little while, and its exactly like TFC in every way. right down to the graphics. the maps are boring and plain, the weapons models are blocky and out of proportion, and the player models are just as bad, too.

your argument isn't valid on several levels. you say that you preordered the orange box for TF2, but BEFORE you realized that they were changing the style of the game. they announced the changes AGES ago, like, 18 months. and i know for a fact that they didn't have preorders available then, because nobody had even heard of the orange box back then.
you say that it'll kill the series...dont consider it a series. i played TFC for a fair while and the classes are unbalanced, and grenade spam means you can hardly play at all. valve, who are one of the best multiplayer developers in the world, worked on it and they seem to have fixed these and many other problems. of course, you wont know until you play it.
and what are you going on about TF2 being like DOD? they aren't similar in the slightest, and you haven't even been able to play TF2 yet, so stop making assumptions just because you dont like a few of the fair gameplay balancing decisions that valve made. remember that these guys made TFC.

well you're an idiot. the only difference between a steam purchase and a retail purchase is that one comes with a disk so you dont have to download it.
all of you seem to have forgotten that the three games alone will be cheaper over steam, as well as not having to pay for games you already have.

i'd have to disagree. just because they cancelled the black box doesn't mean that you should just not buy the game(s). thats just hurting yourself. I can understand that people on dialup (like Ant), and people without access to credit cards (like Ant??), and people whose ep1 crashes every time you want to play it (like Ant!!!), are pretty well screwed over :/

well, its obvious that there will be every package under the sun, from the "hl2 pack" (hl2,ep1,ep2) to the "black box pack" to the "orange box pack" as well as some kinda TFC/TF2 amalgamation
steam always comes BEFORE the retail, or at least at the exact same time. valve gets more money from steam than from retail.

i expected this to happen. bioshock isn't a game for everyone. people think that because its such a good game in the reviews, they'll love it. srry himself admitted that he had never heard of it before a week or so ago when it was getting perfect reviews everywhere. usually that doesn't merit buying it after a mere week of researching it.
i'd recommend you get hold of a copy of system shock 2, jump on IRC and i'll step you through how to install the custom mods that make the game work better, and play (and finish) it. if you like system shock 2, you'll like bioshock. it's that simple. (this isn't directed at anyone in particular, everyone should do it)
