Jahzel: Too true. Although the blue thing was probably just to show that it hasn't happened to the real TWHL yet. Maybe it was a warning of things to come, although in a way, with Anonymous pissing everyone off, this is already happening :(

If someone spam-rates your map, ignore it, and if you want to, disable ratings. However, NEVER EVER rate your own maps. EVER. Otherwise I will come round to your house and remove your reproductive orgrans.

Null is in zhlt.wad. If you don't have ZHLT, get it now. It has much better compiling tools than Hammer came with (which were old quake tools).

Are you sure he meant "brush"? It sounds like he's talking about making bushes. You can get an idea of how to do this in the "trees" tutorial, or you could try using a model.

I think it could very well happen. We'd better start sorting out TWHL now. Just imagine what it could be in the future! I'm starting to get worried.

BL does actually have a point though. In a way, we run this site (not the mods), and we control whether it is good or bad. The dream could very well be (although I doubt it) a warning of what might happen in the future. Looks like this alternate reality stuff is coming true :(

Or maybe I've been watching too much stargate (there was an alternate reality in that, and what happened there nearly happened in the reality that you see normally) :D

in ps2 half life vs pc half life. Post #77616
The PS2 models aren't actually that good at all. The textures are even more low-res than the LD models that came with PC HL. As mop said, you can just get SD models, and you can get (eventually) detail textures for PC HL to make it more like the PS2 version. However, the PS2 version had good stuff, like modelled vehicles, chargers, and retinal scanners. But: PC > PS2

Maybe it was an alternate reality...if you think about it, there are infinite possibilities for how different the world could be. I know this was just a dream, but imagine if there WAS an alternate reality. Btw, dark blue is what you get if you press "print screen" on TWHL, copy the image into paint, and invert the colours. In fact, if it wasn't for mere curiosity, I probably would never have known what HL was!

Do a google search for CWShredder. It's a program that can help get rid of some of the CoolWebSearch (CWS) trojans from porn sites. Also search for HijackThis! but don't fix anything with it without expert help from a site such as
http://newbie.org/help
You can scan as much as you like, but DO NOT fix without help, or you may get rid of stuff which is vital for your computer.

I use the following to protect my system:

Anti-virus: Sophos Anti-virus
Anti-adware/spyware: Ad-aware SE Personal
Anti-CWS: CWShredder
Anti-everything else: HijackThis!

Hope this helps.
Also, do not use Internet Explorer, since it is very vulnerable to attacks. Use a browser such as Opera or Mozilla Firefox, which can block cookies that download trojans, viruses, spyware, CWS etc.

in Christmas Is almost here! Post #74891
Blink 182 - I Won't Be Home For Christmas - (3:15)

(Deck the halls with boughs of holly
fa la la la la, la la la la
tis the season to be jolly
fa la la la la, la la la la)

Outside the carolers start to sing
I can't describe the joy they bring
cause joy is something they don't bring me

My girlfriend is by my side
from the roof are hanging sickles of ice
their whiny voices get irritating
It's Christmas time again

So I stand with a dead smile on my face
wondering how much of my time they'll waste
oh God, I hate these Satan's helpers

And then I guess I must have snapped
because I grabbed the baseball bat
and made them all run for shelter

It's Christmas time, again
It's time to be nice to the people you can't stand, all year
I'm growing tired of all this Christmas cheer

You people scare me
please stay away from my home
If you don't want to get beat down
just leave the presents and then leave me alone

Mine's better, 'cos it's actually from Stargate. Also, if you haven't come across func_illusionary and (possibly) most other entities, you should read lots of tutorials before you start mapping seriously :)

in <<Stargate Trouble>> Post #72377
You're correct. Vertical water doesn't work. Brushes textured with a texture that begins with a !, or a func_water brush will only work if you are looking down onto them. In the mod StargateTC, they used an animating texture for the water, with a func_illusionary and env_render.

in Firing rate tweaking...HOW?????? Post #69266
It's an M4, but I think you can actually have M16s with single, burst AND auto modes. But M4s are the main auto weapon, M16s are designed for long range battles, where you need slower rates. They also have a cover for the muzzle when you attach an M203, and an extra foresight. So HA!

BTW, SA80s pwn M16s :D

Or not. SA80s suck, but they look cooler.

I agree with Jahzel about regulars. It's nothing to do with login count. It's if you post regularly, visit the site regularly etc. And if Seventh has failed (ie: can't be bothered) to set up the channel, I'll be more than willing to set one up for you. I'll set the admins to be the same as on #twhl, plus myself.

in Compression Post #65274
You need a .bsp to play it. And .map sucks, because it can't store visgroups etc., and doesn't compress as well as .rmf. But basically:

.map: like a .rmf but crap
.rmf: save your map in this
.bsp: compile to this
.max: irrelevant file created on compile
.dxf: no idea

You must be a member to download, upload, and view some of the forums. And the models have to be improvements, or good quality replacements, or just good quality models made from scratch. But they have to be good.
