I feel this is pretty appropriate right now.

Probably not 100% accurate, but even being in the ballpark says a lot about just how much "more" radiation is stacked on top of "normal" daily doses.

It's just a matter of being uninformed. To most people, "radiation" means "VERY BAD" in all shapes and sizes. Most people don't really have any idea how much radiation they receive on a daily basis or what the damage threshold is.

I appreciate the encouragement. Thanks :)

You're probably already aware of this, but be REALLY careful about picking balanced maps out of the submissions. The map types give inherent advantages to Ts or CTs.

Most cs_ maps are totally unfair to the CTs because the Ts have high ground + they can camp the round out to win + the CTs usually have to return the hostages to a single point.
De_ maps are a little more fair, but completely unfair for Ts if there's only one bomb site.
As_ maps with one rescue location are, again, completely unfair to CTs.

Edit: I guess team victories don't matter so much if the winnings are dished out completely separate from who actually won the rounds. Still, just try your best to keep it balanced :

Also be wary about only one person getting winnings per map in a team-based game. Players are going to be competing against their own team members for #1 on the server, so kill steals and generally selfish behavior is probably going to happen.

I'm trying to find a map that's both old and not total shit, and I've come to realize that I have never made a map that doesn't look like it was made by a 4-year-old.
And that's very discouraging. So I won't be submitting any maps for this.

I would, however, like to compete.

in Kids Post #291517
Dimbark, I'm going to stop you from doing this before you start thinking it does any good.

Don't ever make a point about how you're a kid, and don't ever make a point about how you're mature for your age. You're doing the former right now. You'll want to do the latter in a year or two.

There is nothing, absolutely nothing, more annoying than a kid who insists, "I'm <insert age here> but very mature for my age. I don't <insert action here> like other kids. I'm better than that." because
1. You aren't better than that. You'll find that most kids around that age have exactly the same mentality.
2. Feeling that you need to outright tell people that you are mature is a sign that you don't believe your actions speak for themselves. People shouldn't need to be told that this whatever-year old kid is mature, they can in fact pick up on it by judging the way the kid behaves.

I remember this. Haunting stuff. I've just started playing Silent Hill, lots of good music to look forward to in the series.
4 is... different. Just a heads up if you decide to give it a shot.
Personally it's my favorite of the franchise, but hey.

Also:
UT3's version of Forgone Destruction is an astounding piece of DnB.
It's really too bad that a different, much worse version was released on the official OST.

Jesus, what a clusterfuck of links :zonked:

I'll give a shoutout to the entire Final Fantasy Tactics OST.
Prologue track
Epic fightin' music example 1
Epic fightin' music example 2
The song you'll spend 99% of the game listening to

The entire Odin Sphere OST also gets an honorable mention.
Extended theme
Even more fightin' music
Slightly less epic fightin' music with acoustic guitar
Study time

As Psilous said, Silent Hill always had fantastic soundtracks.
SH3 - Hometown
SH4 - Room of Angel You're a prick if you don't like this song.
SH:O - ORT
SH:O - Blowback

Bah! How could I forget the Braid OST?
Downstream
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - Dark World
Quite relaxing, really.
:3
Uncharted 2 - Road to Shambhala
Great way to end the game, really amps up at the end.
Badass.
Beyond Good and Evil - Home Sweet Home
Some more great chilled out music. The atmosphere of Hyllis is just perfect.
Christ that's catchy.

TRON: Legacy

I have to say I was very satisfied, and I believe Legacy is a worthy sequel to the original cheeseball flick. All right, there were more than a handful of corny clich?s and obvious reality holes. You'd really have to suspend disbelief to thoroughly enjoy Tron.
The film was damn pretty, though. I'd recommend it to anyone just for the eye candy alone. Seeing the first beforehand is absolutely not necessary, but it will certainly put Legacy into perspective.
Also, Olivia Wilde's character was smokin' :)

in Normal qual textures appearing horribly Post #291108
The blurring you get from Paint is something totally different, Dimbark. That blurring is actually the image being compressed to take up less space on the hard drive. Not compressed in pixel dimensions, but compressed in more complex ways. The blurs are called compression artifacts.

The blurs here are from an actually smaller image being resized to fit the object it's applied to.

Edit: or maybe that's not what you were talking about.

in Normal qual textures appearing horribly Post #291101
Goldsrc does weird things with textures that don't match certain dimensions.
If the width or height isn't a square of 2 (2, 4, 8, 16, and so on) the texture gets mutilated. So in this case, 96 isn't a square of 2. I bet it will look a lot sharper is you resize it to be 64x64 or 128x128.
